I have been talking to Art jimmerson and he's agreed to come here and share some of his experiences, as a boxer, ufc 1 vet and ufc boxing trainer.

He also has some ufc 1 signed memorabilia for sale MMAHAWK @MMAHAWK

It should be great, just figuring out the finer details

From my little experience talking to art he has always been honest and receptive, the same things I hear about gary Goodridge and other pioneers. So let's show some love back and welcome a new member to our community (one that I bragged great things about)

What a trip this must have been for every fighter back then. Pretty much zero footage to study on your opponent, no idea what to expect, crowd is just as clueless and its 100% about who the better fighter is at all cost. No thinking about a long term signing or sponsor I bet, no such thing as winning a round or point fighting, just you and another guy doing all you can trying to prove your worth. These guys need much more acknowledgment from the UFC, should be collecting a royalty or something for life.

Yea I agree Birdwatcher. 20 years later and now you got chicks fighting in the biggest org in the world. Newer fans will never know what it was like back then for those NHB pioneers and the amount of courage it took to prove your art and toughness. It took some serious balls to enter any of the first 10 UFC tournaments. No weight classes and the first few nobody knew what would happen. The refs were so clueless they would let things go too long and there was a big fear of someone being seriously hurt in there.

Imagine the fear some of Mark Kerrs first opponents felt when they showed up to fight and saw his bag ass. They knew nothing about the guy or how he fights. There was no real game planning back then because you couldnt scout your opponents.

Was talking to @Fedor grabbed the ropes about this as well. It took HUGE balls to step in there back in the day. I can't imagine the nerves and anxiety those guys felt leading up to those events.

I recall a marketing pitch I made a few years back, it was to a panel, and I'm an asshole so I wasn't really ready. I remember the horrible feeling I had in the pit of my stomach and am embarrassed that I just used it as an example for the ufc 1 gUys. Imagine that. Representing your sport on ppv, not knowing anything about your opponent Or who would be watching. I'd have trouble I'm not gonna lie
