The UFC has docked one of its champions for not wearing the proper Reebok apparel during a fight week activity.

Rafael dos Anjos, the UFC lightweight champion, was fined a "significant" amount for violating the promotion's Athlete Outfitting Policy at UFC on FOX 17 weigh-ins Dec. 18, sources told MMA Fighting.

Donald Cerrone and Nate Diaz, both of whom also fought at UFC on FOX 17 in Orlando, have been public about being fined by the UFC for violating the Outfitting Policy. Cerrone said Monday on The MMA Hour that he was penalized "quite a bit more" than $5,000 for wearing a piece of an American flag sewn onto his fight shorts. Diaz implied in a tweet Sunday night that he was fined for wearing jeans at weigh-ins.

The UFC has not spoken out on either situation. When reached by MMA Fighting, dos Anjos' manager Ali Abdel-Aziz declined to comment.

UFC senior vice president of global consumer products Tracey Bleczinski told MMAjunkie last week that three fighters from UFC on FOX 17 were fined for "serious" infractions of the Athlete Outfitting Policy. She didn't mention any names. Twelve others were warned since the uniform deal with Reebok went into place in July, Bleczinski said. Fighters and coaches are not allowed to wear apparel other than Reebok during fight week and in the Octagon, the policy stipulates.

Pretty soon they're going to start doing clothing checks before fighters step out onto the scale or the cage

the UFC and Reebok should be fined significantly by the Department of Labor and the Fashion Police respectively

Fighter wears blue jeans to weigh-one= FINE HIM!!

Reebok can't spell fighters name= lol our bad!
Exactly. Reebok doesn't even have enough respect to spell the fighters names right. Something a 3rd grader could do. Yet they expect fighters to bow down for peanuts.

I'm pretty confident ECC170 @ECC170 made it to at least 7th/8th grade, and he can't spell for shit. So lets cut Reebok just a tiny bit of slack, mkay?

If the fines don't have a scale as to what amount will be deducted for various infractions, I'd imagine this will turn out in a lawsuit or two.

I've never had to say this, but FRAT warning. I've never ranted before, so sorry for the long post.

I try not to be a negative person, in general. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and I rarely just straight out trash someone. If I say anything at all, it's usually done with a passive-aggressive, slightly funny, smart ass remark. It's just me, how I've always been.

With that being said, FUCK Reebok. (Definitely the first time I've said that anywhere.) How does a long standing, multi-national apparel company make a huge, ground-breaking apparel sponsorship with a self professed BILLION dollar company and then proceed to have the entire thing explode in their face like a porn star's money shot? Seriously, they have screwed the pooch every step of the way. Misspelled the names of some of the biggest stars and legends in the sport? Check. Design the most bland, generic eyesore apparel possible? Check. Make "national pride" shirts that are so offensive to the target nation that you can't sell them? Check. Negotiate an amount to pay the athletes that you think is "fair", but in reality is so low that guys literally retire because it's not worth it to fight for that price? Check. Fine guys an obscene percentage of that meager pay because they wore non-descript jeans to the weigh-in? Check. Generate as much horrible press as possible for your poorly designed, over priced products while claiming that this is the best thing to ever happen for the sport and its athletes? Check. I tried to see the humor in all their fuck-ups at first, but this is just becoming sad.

Don't blame Reebok. Reebok is just Reeboking. Blame Zuffa for negotiating this deal in the first place. I can't understand why so many people don't get this. Reebok didn't force Zuffa into anything.

I cannot understand how the fighter/promotion contracts were written in such a way that this thing even happened. Not a single fighter on the roster has the ability to have other sponsors and they are required to take a massive pay cut by endorsing reebok? It's just mind blowing that not a single fighter has written into their contract that they must approve of zuffas handling of the fighters ability to earn income, or will either have an option to void contract or renegotiate.

I'm sure many people realize this, but such amount of stupidity can't be ignored. Zuffa is the dummy here, but Reebok is the flatout stupid.

If I signed a contract that said during fight week I had to make all public appearances in reebok apparel that they give me I'd do it and take the cheque. These guys fckin up and violating the contract are idiots, I wish I got paid to fuckin wear a particular brands clothing.
