Rapper Mac Miller has died at age 26 of an apparent overdose, TMZ reports. His most recent album, Swimming, was just released on August 3.

Miller, born Malcolm James McCormick, was recently charged with a DUI after crashing his car into a power pole in Los Angeles this May. Shortly after the crash, ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande posted a statement about their former relationship, writing that she had “cared for him and tried to support his sobriety.”

Spin has reached out to a representative for Mac Miller and we will update this post if more information becomes available.

Well, RIP, well wishes to family.

I've never heard of him, but I'm old, so I'm content replaying Too Short & TRU.

I'm also convinced that I could easily buy some rap stuff and do a better job.
I've got the clout of the T-MAC crew behind me and street cred up the ying-yang.
Hey, Ying-Yang...I like the sound of that.
    Is it taken yet?

    Damn.
I was just thinking about him today and planning to look up if he has anything new coming out.

It's almost all opiates. When you look back at some of our stars that we lost in the last decade you realize how early this all started.

There are five times as many opiate overdoses now as there were just 15 years ago.
It's absolutely nuts and it's only getting worse as illicit Fentanyl gets cut to replace more expensive Pharmaceutical abuse.

Mac Miller had a pretty heartfelt tiny desk concert.

Maybe it’s time we consider legalization and focus our resources on education and recovery.

26 is too young to go out like this. That’s rough.

I'm 38 years old and Mac Miller was legit enough to have me mention his name first whenever I'd hear my peers talk about "rappers these days suck". For the most part I would agree with my old friends but there are young artist like Mac Miller who put out fun refreshing music that has a feel good positive vibe to it.

Mac Miller had a couple tracks with my #1 favorite all time rapper Sean Price who past away himself in 2016.

I strongly urge anyone who likes 90's hip hop to give Mac Miller a listen. Songs like "Best day ever", "Knock Knock", "Senior Skip Day", and he also has some great freestyles at Sway/Tech, Tim Westwood and some others.

I even watched his brief reality tv show. Was pretty funny and he seemed like a cool guy who just wanted to love/live life.

I agree. If we legalize it, there will be far less users.

Don't say he has great freestyles because those were all prewritten. Doing a prewritten song over a new beat is a remix. This pisses me off.

He was a troubled guy, but he got the music bug at a young age. RIP.

How about try listening to what I mention before critiquing. Your complaint is valid, but not here. Pre-written stuff on the spot without messing up is hard to do, but I wouldn't classify it as freestyle, as I'm sure you're with me on this. If you are, then perhaps you're realizing I do know what freestyling is. He may start with writtens in some freestyles, but he flat out goes on the Tim Westwood show, goes to his(Tim Westwood's) huge as record collection and randomly starts pulling out records and rapping about them. If that's not a freestyle I don't know what is.

There's also a moment on his interview with Sway where a female caller calls in, "Lacy", and he then proceeds to start freestyle rapping about her. Now I've heard way better freestyles but as you can imagine freestyling is pretty hard to do and I don't respect mainstream rappers who don't even attempt it but Mac Miller does, has, freestyled quite a bit.

What gripes me is when people make assumptions and start complaining without doing their due diligent research prior to their complaining ;)

I will give it to you there. That is a freestyle and a terrible one at that.

I based my judgement on the freestyles that retards posted in their compilations with "best freestyles." By no means dud I follow this guy's career, but I have certainly heard a fair share of his "freestyles."

What a shame. Only just found out about him from the Tiny Desk series. (Which a love for finding new artists to listen too)

This opiate drink 'lean' seems to be a very dangerous road to go down.

Technically total fluff rap. Don't even care. It was often fun.

    This is sad now:

Also Donald Trump above @jason73@jason73 posted is infectious...so much so I'd jam the parody alone:

I listen to pop music when I want to get pumped or go running. Don't need always put on citizen kane when watching netflix. Sometimes you just want to chill out to the popcorn flick that puts a smile on your face. I liked what he was putting out there.

I know half your post you’re just trying to be funny but he was extremely talented and much more than just rap. Doubt you could do what he did anywhere near as well as him
