Why in the fuck would ferguson get a fight with cmac before khabib as some have suggested?

so you mean conor will actually have to face a contender before he gets his gifted title shot now?

Khabib has been out for 2 years and Tony is on a 7 fight winning streak?
While that's a good point, khabib is the true threat, and the real fight to make. Seems like a cherry pick imo.

No disrespect to el cucuy intended. I just believe khabib to be the better fighter.

Tony's style plays more into the strengths of Conor than Khabib's does in my mind.
2 inch reach advantage, good boxing, good wrestling, excellent submissions. Khabib's got wrestling, but his stand up isn't great and while Khabib holds the record for most takedowns in a fight, that's because people get up and McGregor has excellent scrambling.

khabib has enough time to get injured before this fight takes place leaving them scrambling for yet another replacement

I think Tony is the harder fight.
Definitely not IMO. If Khabib is anywhere near what he was before the layoff he's a terrible match up for Conor. That's not to say Conor couldn't catch him while he's closing the distance (he tends to be a bit reckless), but his grappling is on another level than the rest of the LW division, and he's huge.

Ferguson is well rounded, but i believe that cmac is good enough to avoid his td's, subs, and knock him out on the feet. Like you said Conor has excellent scrambles. Khabib has KO power, his sambo background gives him submission skill, and the threat of the slams will make it a much more competitive fight than tony. Being dumped on your head and neck repeatedly takes a lot out of you. Again, that's only my opinion.

Khabib throws wide open hooks with his head on the center line. Unless he has drastically improved, I don't see how he closes the distance on, the much faster, McGregor. Tony has good boxing, good defensive skills and a 2 inch reach advantage. If he can make it competitive on the feet it opens up the takedowns, and he has a much higher chance of catching a sub in a scramble than Khabib in my opinion.

How pissed is holly Holm if she's getting ppv points and Conor doesn't fight.
lol :)
You're sounding kind of shill-ish to me. For the sake of what is more than likely a small difference in profit you as a fan want the UFC to shit on RDA, and the championship title in general? By in large people are buying this for McGregor, title or not.
they did a massive buildup for Aldo vs Mcgregor and then the whole thing was wrecked by Aldo getting injured, so they saved the day with an interim title fight and brought in Mendes. The other reason to make it an interim title fight is that if they made the Aldo fight again either with Mendes or Mcgregor and he got injured and pulled out yet again, they could promote the interim title holder to champion

EDIT: I misread the quote and commented on a different situation in case you're scratching your head

Both guys would be a good test for Conor. I don't think either guy would sub Conor easily, he has been training his ass off with Gunnar after all. I really think the blueprint to beat Conor is to avoid that left, slam him on his nugget, establish dominant position, wear him down, and beat him up. I could be completely wrong, but time will indeed tell.

We're not talking about the Aldo fight.

he'd been training with Gunnar when he fought Mendes too, and only managed to get up because Mendes is a noob

not sure if I quoted the wrong post or just read what I wanted to read :p apologies
It's all good. Viewing the latter half of the conversation can easily be mistaken for a discussion about the Chad vs Conor interim match, but we were talking about a potential interim title for 196, which I don't agree with.

I wake up on my day off to this mess. I probably won't be getting the PPV if they don't find a replacement, the card is pretty watered down outside the two title fights, now it's really watered down. I think I'll go to the mountains and watch a nice stream together with the bears and deers.
