I'm looking to replace my shin guards. Figured I'd ask here for some suggestions. I'm about 6'1" tall and 230 lbs for a size reference. I generally get the shit kicked out of me by a far superior kicker lol. I have bruises on my shins right now that I got through my current fairtex shin guards. So, better shock absorbing is high on my list of preferred qualities.
Recommend me some good shin guard. Thanks in advance.

Plenty of good Thai pads out there but I reckon the key is wearing those cheap white karate pads under the Thai pads whenever shins are tender or just for hard sparring. Makes a lot of difference.

Any of the top Thai brands like Twins, Sandee, Windy etc. If you're sparring hard, wear a pair of the thin fabric covered shin pads underneath. The Dutch wear two pairs of shin pads.

I heard the French wear them on thier calf's, to protect them when they surrender

I dont feel like they make too much of a difference other than shin to shin contact. Plus ive never bought a pair that didnt creep around and need to be adjusted. Maybe i need a better pair

shin pads are more for the protection of you're partner not so much the guy wearing them... kicking anybody with a shin bone to any part of the body is dangerous especially the head or ribs.

lol.. ask thiago alves training partners if they want him to wear shin pads.. you can't go getting head kicked with bare shins and have a long career... blocking a kick properly with your forearms from a bare shin is not ideal.. you don't wanna use all your lives in sparring.. training smarter is part of the sport evolving..if you guys hate all these cards being ruined by injuries you guys should root for wearing proper gear.
