You can't buy an assault weapon at any "gun show".
"Assault weapon" is an invented definition related to the 1994-2004 Assault weapons ban that noted several characteristics of a center fire semi-automatic rifle that would then term it an "assault weapon". Despite the ban going away, the term is still used.
EDIT - this is includes a lot of cosmetic things like barrel shrouds, bayonet lugs, etc.

"Assault rifle" requires select-fire beyond standard semi automatic fire. These have been banned from new issue to civilians for more than 30 years.

The former was intentionally meant to obfuscate the two and make them sound the same. And to this day, many people, and the media especially, throw them around with total lack of actual concern for the definitions.

Stocks aside, selective fire to start.
Simply put, you've got a switch for 3-round bursts to full auto.
What the military and swat teams have.
Like Mac-10…

Or full auto AK?

Firing weapons on auto is dumb. If I got a Russian ak I'd pay to have the auto option removed .

I would agree, but to a point. There has to be a safeguard against the government retaining a registry, by design or access, for tracking firearm purchases. I just don't feel like the state should have access to that info.
It's my understand that the 1986 firearm owners protection act already set those limits. There's some further restrictions during GW Bush's terms.

And I think you have to fix the background checks first, or what's the point of pushing more data in to a non-functional system?
The current system is broken but not totally ineffective.

That video is highly suspect. They didn't show the purchase. It is most likely that his mother bought the gun, and they simply showed a shot of him walking away with it.

Can we reference the original for context?

Or we could just re-make the thread with a poll:

Name this thread:

Option A: @Miesha's Taint's
Option B: sparkuri @sparkuri's
Option C: I'm gay for making this
Option D: MAGA/results
Original title was 13 year old buys gun with no issues.

Option B is the current title.

Option C is already just a known fact.

they said it was totally legal. I thought that if you had reason to believe that the person was prohibited from owning a firearm (for whatever reason), you could be prosecuted if you did a person-to-person sale. I think this means that in whatever state they were in, it's totally legal for the kid to buy the gun, and the sale would have proceeded the same in a gun store with a background check.

if so, then that's a quirk of Virginia law. I know that in Virginia you have to be 21 to buy a handgun from a dealer, but there's no age limit on private party sales. I assume it applies to other firearms.

So the news channel, which was trying to take the moral high-ground sent a 13 year old kid into a porno shop surrounded by huge rubber cocks and pornos everywhere?

Cliffs?

I bet it's a spud gun.

Did I tell you my story about a spud gun?
Kid gets denied cigarettes, beer, porn magazine (didn’t know they still produced porn magazines, lol), scratch cards/lottery tickets due to age

Within seconds buys a rifle at a gun show.

All I can say is yep, who didn’t know that gun happy America would gladly deliver our next school shooter all in the name of “right to bear arms” and fucking money........

Let’s be real, he didn’t buy a full auto SCAR. He “bought” a bolt-action .22 with an adult present. I had a .22 at like 10 years old. What is shown in the video is still technically illegal because you still have to be 18 even in a private sale. So either the video is complete bullshit or the guy in the video can face charges.
