According to MMA decisions 21 of the 22 media scores were for Reneau and over 80% of votes scored it for Reneau as well with another 10% calling it a draw. Every split dec I've ever heard debated I'd have to say that was the most clear victory for any fighter ever in this situation. Other so called "bad Decisions" have usually at least 35% or more leaning one way or the other. In this case How can any of it be even debated by the judges other rounds when they were so inept scoring the first round? When in history does a knock down ,take down and a near submission (probably would have been finished with a few more seconds) at the end of the round NOT win a round when the other fighter didn't even do anything closee? If the commission doesn't reverse their decision at least I hope they call it a no contest. Fighters have too much to lose with a loss on their records these days, not even including the monetary factor.
I think that the two judges who had the first round scored for Evens-Smith had the two fighter confused. I would rather believe it was a case of mistaken identity than the worst judging of a round ever. If that is the case they would be better to man up and admit it. Again, that probably won't happen as they'd be laughing stock of the judging community.
Good luck to Marion Reneau with this, at least she is standing up for what's right.
