"But always remember this: Marines die. That's what we're here for. But the Marine Corps lives forever, and that means you live forever." - R. Lee Ermey.

saw him filming the show, "Mail Call" back in 03 in Pendleton

he was a former Drill Instructor, heard at first, supposed to only be an advisor for the film, "Full Metal Jacket," which not sure what happened but he ended up getting the role as Gunny Hartman.

RIP Lee Ermey

He did play a drill sergeant in the movie "The Boys From Company C" a few years earlier, if I am not mistaken.

"TEXAS? Holy dogshit! Only steers and queers come from texas!! And you don't much look like a steer to me so that kind of narrows it down. Do you suck dick?"

"Well it looks to me like the best part of you ran down the crack of your momma's ass and ended up as a brown stain on the mattress! I think you've been cheated!"

I asked my uncle, a lifer in the USAF, whether he liked FMJ or Apoc more. 100% in on FMJ. He made the comment that he was pretty sure that Lee wasn't acting.

Side story, I worked with a guy who had served in Korea. He obviously was an older guy. While chatting over some Bookers bourbon, his drink of choice, I asked him about his military experience. What I remember most was how he said how much he hated his drill instructor because when he got in his face the brim of his hat would be bouncing off of his nose.

We worked well together. He gave me advice that I still hold true. When he was in the DMZ it was just do your job and go home, but always be ready to fight.

It's drill INSTRUCTOR!! aye sir.

Marine Drill Instructors will flip the fuk out if you called them Drill Sergeant :D (I know it's the same thing)

Boys in Company C's a rare, underrated Vietnam War movie, a little slow but I enjoyed it.
