Ronda Rousey says a UFC return is ‘as likely’ as her going back to the Olympics for judo

    MMA Fighting Newswire

Ronda Rousey doesn’t seem poised for a UFC comeback any time in the near future.

The former UFC women’s bantamweight champion said Tuesday on “The Ellen Show” that she would put a return to the Octagon on the same plane currently as a return trip to the Olympics. Rousey won the bronze medal in judo at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

“I don’t know,” Rousey told Ellen DeGeneres. “I think it’s just as likely as me going back to another Olympics for judo. No one demanded a written resignation from me for judo and I don’t really think the same thing is necessary for fighting. I’m just doing what I enjoy and WWE is what I enjoy right now.”

Rousey made her debut in WWE earlier this year and will have her first match with the pro-wrestling promotion at WrestleMania 34 on April 8 in New Orleans. She’ll team with fellow former Olympian, Kurt Angle, a former wrestling gold medalist, to take on Stephanie McMahon and her husband Triple H. WWE has been building the scripted storyline with the four on-air talents since January.

“It’s like a team,” Rousey said of the choreographed world of WWE. “I’ve never been on a team my whole life. I was a swimmer, that was alone. I did judo, that was alone. I was a fighter, that was alone. With WWE, it’s like a big team. Everybody is working together to try to make it as great as possible.”

I was never a fan of Ronda but there’s no denying what she did for WMMA and I hope she finds peace and happiness in her gig with WME.

She had her run...If she comes back it will be Royce vs Hughes type results

Not a fan personally, but I hope she has fun doing pro wrestling

Her passion was only about being #1, better to just leave WMMA to those who have passion for fighting now

WMMA could use her for the eyeballs because overall it's sort of flat.

Who would you match her up with if she returned?

I would give her an easily winnable fight. Maybe Bethe Correia rematch. Something to build her confidence and find out if she wants to keep going. This just to get the eyeballs without watching her get TKO'd again.

that's crazy how she never really felt any of those as "team" and imo is the reason why she went downhill hard.

Most MMA fighters, if they're compatible with the camp, they usually call them "team" and family. Even with BJJ schools.

She's implying that she did everything by herself? pretty damn selfish but then I don't blame her because her coach was some Wish-he-has-been type of person.

Good for her though, I hope she's happy with WWE but man~ what if she just had the right "team" around her for MMA? what a waste

It’s impressive how far she came with such a shit coach but given everything we now know about her psyche she may not have been able to get to such a high level without such a dysfunctional system.

    agree and agree.

but when she was down and hit rock bottom, I believe support of the people she can trust would have been paramount for her recovery which she didn't have any from the Coaches / Training Partners / the "Team"

Why is an interview that a Pro Wrestler did on Ellen in Cageside?

It’s a public service announcement for all members. After her saying that she will never return to the ufc all threads regarding rousey that pop up in cageside can now be instantly moved to the wrestling section without any complaints.

She literally put WMMA on her back and carried that shit to
stardom like Jay Z put Brooklyn on his back and made it something
    people paid attention to.

"What do I say to people who say WMMA in the UFC is just only about Ronda?
I say you're right. This is the Ronda Rousey show and none of this would have happened
    without her"- The Bald Father
