UFC lightweight veteran Ross Pearson will be fighting for the 2nd time in just 3 weeks, as he’s accepted a welterweight bout against Jorge Masvidal at UFC 201.

Ross Pearson has wasted no time in finding his next fight, and it’s a route you may not have expected. After a competitive loss vs. Will Brooks on last Friday’s TUF 23 Finale, Pearson is moving up to 170 for a UFC 201 showdown against Jorge Masvidal on July 30th. Pearson is replacing an ill Siyar Bahadurzada, who has since withdrawn from the Atlanta, Georgia pay-per-view event. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reported the story on Wednesday.

Pearson (19-11) has already fought 3 times this year, winning a split decision over Chad Laprise, but losing to Francisco Trinaldo and the aforementioned Brooks. He has alternated wins and losses…

Both guys are the same size and like to brawl. Could be a fight to watch.

I haven't watched the Ross vs brooks fight yet because of fucking restrictions in the uk on fight pass.

I don't know why he didn't stay at 55 as I understand ECC170 @ECC170 's bff didn't really win that fight.......

I'll let you know my verdict in 2018 when they let me watch it here

Pearson really looked great in that fight though. best i've seen him in a while....his striking was very crisp.

I am not really impress by Pearson, very small mans for 170, but, also Masvdel, too smalls should be at light weights.

Unfortunately I dont see Pearson moving forward much in his career. He seems to have stalled, not able to add tools to his arsenal.

He did look good against Brooks but he lost and just looked like a slightly crisper version of himself. With his style he looks a tad behind the curve.

Still keen to see him fight.
