"Every single setback, it's not the end of the world, it's just the beginning of that lesson," Rousey said at Reebok's Luncheon for Inspirational Women (via Inside Halton). "That had to happen for me to learn these certain things and it's not about being completely infallible, it's about getting better and there's no room for improvement in perfect."

The 29-year-old believes everything happens for a reason and says her loss to Holm could be a blessing in disguise.

"When it comes to challenges, I honestly believe that things happen for a reason. At the time yes it's hard on a personal, emotional level and it's hard to look past what's happening to the future, but you have to believe in yourself because down the line in two, five, ten years' time you'll look back and think that was actually the best thing that ever happened to me."

Damn if she keeps fighting Holms and losing she could be 9 ft tall.

It's fun to watch how each individual deals with devastating failure.

And come on Ronda, losing that fight was not the best thing that could have happened to you. If Ronda beat Holm she probably would have had one or two more fights, retired, and headed off to Hollywood like Gina, and she would have had the distinction of retiring undefeated like a Floyd Mayweather. That loss is going to haunt her for the rest of her life.

It's the fight business, shit happens. Sometimes you get caught, sometimes you run into someone who just has your number.

This is who she is NOW because of Meisha's victory. If HH had won, then this "mature" side of her would be nowhere to be seen. My impression is she is a bully and does well when she knows she has her opponent outmatched from the outset.

Inspirational Women? Please stop raising her up. She's not a good person. The quicker everyone can realize this, the better the conversation of her skill and ability will be.

Her story is still unfinished. I agree that she's been a poor example as of late, but she has plenty of momentum to make a nice comeback story.

Also, she looks fucking amazing in that picture.

Just about every professional fighter has to frame their losses in a way that keeps their fighting spirit intact. They can't just say, "Yeah, I totally got my ass beat! I learned nothing from my defeat and I'm going to continue to suck!"

As much as I don't think Rousey is a good role model, she's still a good fighter who wants to fight. I just hope she really has learned from her loss both as a person and as a fighter.

Her staying with Count Feely McEyebrow is not a good sign, though.

fantastic news.

I don't even think a second loss to Holly will stop her competing against rest of the division, based on her comments.

yes I am hoping hard, but if she can limit her defeat to a decision and shows she can move and not be so reckless, I think she will still have a great career. MMA Math certainly applies, as she's beaten so many of the top women already including the current champion twice, and beat one in 15 seconds who has also finished the current champion.

How Holm comes back is also a big deal right? I'm actually more excited to see her fight again than I was previously

Holly is going to be a tough fight for anybody simply because of her style of fighting but Ronda can beat her and she will.

I'm more interested in seeing Holly come back too. It's been a real roller-coaster for here lately and I'm sure she'll continue to fight well.

I think I'd be more interested in Rousey's comeback if she got rid of that douche who actually has a mural comparing himself to Muhammad Ali!

Oh, and here's why we should all pay attention to what this man says when it comes to fighting:

Here's a great analysis of Rousey:

I respectfully disagree, COMPLETELY. Ronda did what she did in that fight because her opponent dictated the fight. She only boxed to the point that she wanted to set up the entry but HH lit her the fuck up every time she was in range. It's not more complicated than that.
