He is still going to be the biggest draw his next fight. He will still expect to be co-promoter even if he loses 3 in a row. That wouldn't make sense for the UFC.
If he is still going to be the highest draw, why doesn't it make sense for the UFC?

Also, what do they really have to gain from adding him as a co-promoter? Is he going to chip in a few mill for the marketing campaign?
They have Conor McGregor to gain. That's the biggest prize in combat sports right now, and he's insisted on equity since the Eddie fight, and talked about it since well before. Could very well have been the focus of his negotiation.

I think it's likely that he negotiated a deal that isn't a normal fighter deal, where he gets a bigger chunk of the profits from the card and they put McGregor Promotions on the poster. It's not like he's going to be booking fights on cards he's not fighting on or anything.

Conor has been breaking new ground in MMA since day one. He had all the leverage here and is taking advantage. While this co-promotion might by in name only, if true, it's probably an indication that he negotiated more compensation for this fight. And he's right about other champs clinging to his PPV points. Conor vs. Khabib sells 1.5 MM PPVs with or without any other title fights. He doesn't want to share and now he probably doesn't have to, except of course with the Dagestani bear. How does it serve the UFC? They get to sell 1.5 MM+ PPVs instead of 150k. Bend meets over.

Who is "bending over"?

Presumably Zuffa. No way they want to co-promote with fighters. But you gotta pay to play. Conor is showing that mega stars have more power than previously thought.
There is no bending over, it is called a compromise.
If you look at it purely from a business perspective, as weird as it seems ...
UFC does not need Conor as much as Conor needs UFC
Without Conor, UFC is a $200m+ a year profit company
That is more than any Fertitta year
Without UFC, Conor cannot earn anything in combat sports because e voluntarily signed a contract.

Giving someone their perceived worth is far from "bending over" ... it is good business

PS ... the above is not a slam on Conor, it is actually a compliment. He is worth enough to compromise with
