TMMAC,

It's been a while.
We recorded some great episodes of the podcast with a ton of fighters such as newly signed Chris "El Guapo" Gutierrez, Kamuela Kirk and Montel Jackson and much, much more.

But Here I am BACK to give you some insight on a potential rumor going down in the heavyweight division..
We have heard of the rumors of Cain Velasquez coming back in the octagon and he has been paired with Stipe Miocic.

I think this fight will be a fun one as they are arguable two of the greatest to ever do it. Both 36, both in great shape, this should be a fun one.

ALSO: This is just from SMALL news outlets, but i feel there is something to it.
Thoughts?

Good fight.
For Cain, success seems to come in cycles.
Hope this happens.
Fedor motivated him imo.

What about the rumor about Conor and Aldo 2.0? Did that one pan out? I feel like you should finish that candy bar before hoping everyone forgets and you move on to the next.

I wonder if Cain will learn from his teammate, DC, about Stipe being vulnerable to intentional eye pokes that lead to KO's......

I believe the first big ESPN card is February 17th in Phoenix. Cain being from Arizona would make this a great main event.

Everyone appreciates rumors and potential news, but it would be much more credible if you said where you got the rumors. Otherwise it is just gossip. Just some friendly advice.

See, that's where you lose it. Going after people that call you on unsubstantiated "rumors" is not a good start for a potential news career. You say "small news outlets" and then refuse to cite them saying they are "rumors circulating". That's not due diligence, that's just repeating (or making up) words and hope you get the credit for "breaking" the story despite that you didn't even "hear" it first. Lot of quotation marks because of all the shadiness.

Nothing can even be discussed about a Conor or a Khabib fight until the NSAC clears them or suspends them
any talk about any fight is just talk until then
The Aldo as well as the Cowboy rumors will be a rumor until at least Dec 10th

Personally, from everything i know about UFC, I doubt they put any time into either fight rumored.
They don't waste time on booking towards a fight they can't make for sure

Look at Jones and MSG.
if UFC put the effort in and Jones could have been training they would have made the fight.
but they waited until he was 100% cleared with a date & then Jones said "I'm not ready" & they scrambled

An interesting thread with some valid critique and outlook
I don't know either site referred to. They could have info, but 90% of the time, sites like those just throw out things to get hits/impressions.
A lot of rumors come from people that have no retention ability as well.
they could listen to a podcast with a legit newsbreaker & here them say "a good fight would be ..." then a newZ site reports its being discussed.

I think even though TheCompleteKO @TheCompleteKO is not saying its his news, he might get caught up in the "rumor monger" rung of MMA media by discussing them as if Ariel, Brett, Dave, Luke or someone reported it

That is valid & TCKO has taken criticism before well

btw ... I should be recording with him Tuesday/Wednesday with info on Bellator finances, as well as some UFC news regarding the 2019 outlook

I think these and your other thoughts get to what I am saying. Putting out impossible-to-verify information and then saying "it's just a rumor, so if it's wrong, it's wrong" deserves some sort of response or criticism. Every false rumor erodes our potential trust in them.

For a fledgling site/podcast to start off by parroting rumors on random MMA instagram accounts with no attribution is akin to circling the drain for me, just an echo chamber of false information starting with "sources say" or "I heard". Now, I know news, so I am fully aware that disclosing actual personal sources can be difficult and risky. When it comes from external sources or those that have posted it publicly but not on a platform that everyone can see it, however, it should be the rumor spreader's duty to say where they originated from. Otherwise it's just irresponsible. It isn't even a lot to ask, either.

It makes things worse when the rumor spreader says something like "you heard it here first" when in fact it did not originate from them and was merely reposted by them. It would be like the first person to post a breaking story from MMAFighting on TMMAC saying "well you heard it from me first." It doesn't work like that. If that person actively pursued the information in a journalistic fashion (speaking to camps, reaching out to managers, hearing from fighters, etc.) it would be one thing and then it would be their scoop, but when it's just information gathered by trolling (the fishing definition) random instagram pages for stories, that's not reporting at all. That's just mmaimports with another name.

Side note, you guys remember the early ufc on fox cards when they would frantically bleach and scrub out the blood on the canvas between rounds/commercials?
