Per Malamud, the team are victim to the first Meldonium scandal in Russian hockey. The roster of players had not been confirmed officially, but had included NHL Draft prospects German Rubtsov, Vladislav Sukhachyov and Mikhail Berdin, among others.
There is no word yet as to if it affects Russian prospects currently playing in the Canadian Hockey League.
The Under-18 coach was fired and the team was replaced by Under-17 prospects for the tournament.
Meldonium has been in the news recently for Russian athletes, especially with tennis legend Maria Sharapova recently getting banned from the sport.
The Under-18 World Championships were set to take place Grand Forks, North Dakota from April 14th-24th.
