Scream 7 will introduce Sidney’s daughter: 1923 star cast opposite Neve Campbell
Scream 7 is turning into a Prescott family affair.
The revamped sequel in the slasher franchise will introduce the daughter of Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott. Isabel May, an actress from Yellowstone spinoffs 1883 and 1923, landed the role, Entertainment Weekly has learned.
This development comes after Patrick Dempsey confirmed “there has been a conversation” about him returning to play Mark Kincaid, who is Sidney’s husband in the more current timeline of the films. His casting is not official, however. “I’m waiting on the script,” the actor said on the Today show in October. “I haven’t seen anything yet, so we’ll see what happens,” he added.
When Campbell’s Sidney first appears on screen in 2022’s Scream, which marked a major revamp for the franchise, the character was seen jogging with a baby stroller while getting a call from Dewey (David Arquette). However, audiences didn’t get a peek at her child, who will now apparently be grown up by the time Scream 7 comes around.
May is known for playing Elsa Dutton, a main character and narrator on the two Yellowstone prequel series. She also recently appeared in the movie Masters of the Air.
Casting continues to firm up on Scream 7 in preparation of a 2026 release in theaters. Courteney Cox is also in talks to reprise her role of Gale Weathers, but her casting has not been cemented. Campbell notably sat out an appearance in 2023’s New York City-set Scream VI over a pay dispute, but after the studio fired the franchise’s new lead star, Melissa Barrera, over sharing posts on social media about the Israel-Palestine conflict, followed by the departure of Jenna Ortega, Campbell came back into the conversation.
Kevin Williamson, the screenwriter of Scream, Scream 2, and Scream 4, will now direct Scream 7, which is written by Guy Busick of 2022’s Scream and Scream VI.
The next sequel is set for release on Feb. 27, 2026.
