I kind of love this because if you need the money and you get a job like this, and then you tell all your contacts about it to get them talking about you to try to drum up business, well then you're giving your all to the task and no one can say you didn't do everything you could. They use screenreader software. The most well-known that I've heard of is JAWS.
You know how sometimes when a page doesn't load right and you can see a link that's normally hidden that says "skip navigation"? That is for screen readers so the user can skip having it read the navigation if they want and jump to the main content.

I assume it's there so someone else can drive them up and they can put their pin in themselves? I don't know very much about the visually impaired, but I had to study a little bit about the software and proper html for it. I use the html fairly regularly, but in my specific work environment, I've only had to actually help coordinate technology services for a visually impaired person that used a screen reader once.
The other visually impaired people I've helped could see and just needed assistive technologies for magnification.

probably a regulatory oversight...they made a rule that every symbol of a certain type has to have a Braille alternative, and this is just an unintended consequence. Or there are people who could have vision problems that make seeing low contrast things like low-relief embosses difficult, without impairing their ability to drive.
Technology has come a long way.
