Sergio Pettis is taking his talents to Bellator MMA.

The flyweight and bantamweight contender just recently completed his contract with the UFC and opted to test the free agency market.

Multiple sources confirmed to MMA Fighting on Thursday that Pettis has reached an agreement on a multi-fight deal with Bellator MMA, although contracts still have to be signed. ESPN first reported the move.

The 26-year-old younger brother of former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis has carved out his own niche in the sport while competing at both 125 pounds and 135 pounds in the UFC.

Pettis holds wins over fighters such as Joseph Benavidez, Brandon Moreno and John Moraga during his career.

While he has bounced between weight classes previously, Pettis will only fight at bantamweight in Bellator because the Viacom owned promotion doesn’t currently have a 125-pound men’s division.

Pettis leaves the UFC with a 9-5 record inside the Octagon. He’s coming off a win over Tyson Nam in his most recent performance in September.

As of now, there’s no word on when Pettis will make his Bellator debut. The contract has to be finalized before he can get booked for the promotion.

Good move imo. Pettis isn't really a needlemover and was always going be a top 5 guy who would find it hard to beat the crème de la crème of 135.

He already becames main event material in Bellator and could give guys like Darion Caldwell and Horiguchi a run for their money (I think they both beat him though).

Not trying to break your balls, but Pettis, Ruth, Jury, and Perez are the only fighters I've ever even heard of from this list.
