They made up a ministry of organized crime and told the guy to study banning handguns and "assault weapons" whatever the fuck those are. Keep in mind all firearms are banned in Canada unless you have express written consent from the RCMP. So whom is a gun ban going to actually effect?
and therein lies the problem. Canada has a pretty serious policing issue and extremely soft sentences for "first time offenders". The solution? Make sure you (and I mean you as an individual, not in the broad sense) can't have a firearm. If I currently lived in Toronto I'd be applying for a carry permit. If the police aren't going to do their fucking job I'd like to be able to protect myself.
