it's been longer than four years since Cormier KOed him. the four year period accounts more or less for the time where watching him fight has been one of the most depressing spectacles in combat sports. it's not only that he gets KOed by the first strike that lands, it's that you know this is gonna happen. the man is killing himself in front of our eyes.
even in these three wins after the Fedor stoppage he never really looked good and he took massive damage in the draw with Hunt too (which should be another loss). ever since the TRT ban he looks helpless like he knows deep inside he doesn't have a chance. he re-emerged bulked up for his last fight in Russia which was an epic HW war - I wouldn't call it a "bullshit decision". he got knocked down then later almost killed the other guy. it was a war - but for me watching his fights feels like sadism. we're gonna see him in an interview 10-15 years from now barely able to speak and we're gonna go "oh how cruel, look what happened to Bigfoot" but it's quite obvious that this is gonna happen to Bigfoot.
It's the same thing with weight cutting - one of these days someone is gonna die doing it and we'll say "oh God, who woulda thought this could happen, let's change the way we handle weight cutting" like it isn't obvious that it is due to happen.
