The greatest empires all throughout history have used their armies to protect trade and trade routes. It's nothing new or uniquely American.
Why would they attack us. They are pirates sailing the high seas for booty, or could it be 25 years of failed foriegn policy?

The US could defeat these sand people with a couple of the red baron biplanes and a box of grenades in each one...
Worked in Iraq and Afghanistan and lybia and Syria and Somalia. Good thing we won those wars easily and the trouble has all gone away.

I don't know.... This is legacy of American influence and maritime domination taking over from British domination that happened over a couple decades posts WW2. Between British and Americans they have tried to secure this passage and fought and killed over it for couple hundred years.. Before that obviously other empires fought and killed over this trade route.

The idea the interest in this is new I don't know.. I don't think so but can accept I can be wrong here.

Why in the history of the United States are we suddenly being attacked by the Houthis? It's not like they've been raiding the coast or the high seas for a thousand years. They're desert dwelling tribes men. This isn't landing marines at tripoli to rid ourselves of barbary pirates. Could it be that we're supplying thier perceived oppressors with weapons to further ethnically cleanse them?

Iraq and Afghanistan were the only legitimate wars that you mention. Both were prolonged by politicians trying to profit and the US is still in Iraq - how do you qualify that as a loss especially when it comes to air power?
