He’s definitely a ‘nigga rich’ kinda guy like Cowboy Cerrone. No matter how much he makes, he’s gonna spend it with no thought of the future.
at least cowboy has property and toys and equipment

I think Perry is all about shoes and cool looking shit with very low resale value

oh well...I wish them the best

I don't understand how this mindset is still a thing. You agreed to perform specified duties, for a specified price. You SIGNED a contract stating that. Then you have the audacity to complain about how much they are paying you? Does anyone understand how moronic that is? It's no ones fault but the person who agrees to the contract if the contract sucks.

I can remember having only 6 bucks in my bank account once, years ago. I knew of an atm that I could get 5 bucks from, but it cost more than a dollar for the transaction fee. Being broke sucked, fuck that.

sam alvey or roy nelsons wives may actually be able to manage their careers to a certain level. the platinum princess couldnt manage a shoe store. when she is yelling out break his leg mike during a fight it isnt really helping. mike needs someone giving him technical advice .it isnt exactly like they have a stable relationship either.the break up every couple months and mike is broke and living in his car again.that has to be mentally draining. it is a dumb situation but it is a situation of his own creation and mike doesnt exactly come across as the most intelligent guy on the roster
I highly doubt her abilities to manage even a shoe

UFC's Mike Perry says he's only got $6 in the bank despite fight check

Publishing an Instagram story that was captured by LowKick MMA and taken down hours later, Perry posted a graphic that showed him supposedly making $117,000 for the fight. Perry disagreed with the figure, saying “My a-- I didn’t make that much smh.”

In another post, Perry went into detail about how much money he claimed to make Saturday and how much he supposedly has now:

"58 to show

Uruguay took 17

Management and team 15%

Still got last years taxes

Nose job priceless

Money in the bank $6.00

400k fans on IG tho.”

So basically, Perry is saying he made $58,000 from the fight, with $17,000 going to Uruguayan taxes, 15 percent ($8,700) going to his management and fight team. That would still leave around $32,300, but that is now apparently going to cover Perry’s tax bill from last year.

Of course, the $6 line is quite interesting because Perry, who has had legal troubles in the past, has been making these kind of UFC checks for a while. Saturday was the 27-year-old’s 11th UFC event, and the fourth time he’s won a bonus check for Fight or Performance of the Night.

You have to wonder where all of that past revenue might have gone or how much Perry might be exaggerating his troubles, but he probably isn’t going into detail anytime soon.

That's one seriously busted beak!!

Roy was down here for a couple camps. Top 1 or 2 laziest guys in the gym. Yes his wife was always around also. In his case she wasn't the issue.

I don’t see how any independent contractor should ever have tax issues. Take 25% of the gross and stash it away in a savings account called tax fund. Take another 5% and make quarterly payments to whatever state you live in for state/county/city. When you file, pay what you owe to federal out of the tax fund you’ve been saving up.

Do those things and you should rarely have problems.

its hard to feel bad for him for not progressing when he uses his gf for a manager, cornerman and sparring partner.at this level he needs real representation, real intelligent advice during a fight ,and actual training partners who can challenge him and force him to grow

These are fighters man. There are parasites lurking around literally every corner waiting to get them to invest in this or that hare brained scheme, sponsors outside the UFC who don't pay them when they say they will, managers and trainers ripping them off at every turn, and people inviting them to show up to parties and other events where they dump a bunch of cash. Many don't have much past a high school education, several come from messed up family lives, so they often either lack the tools or the support system to make the smart choices. They often don't pay taxes until it's too late because someone else said "I'll take care of it bro" and then didn't so they get hit with fines and have to pay more to get someone to fix the mess they end up in. It's literally nothing like running any other kind of business. Fighting is closest to porn in terms of the exploiters and scum that surround the "stars" at all times. Add to this a major part of Perry's schtick was to appear wealthy so he could try to attract high end sponsors for his social media stuff and maybe parlay it into higher demand for him to fight. It seems like the whole thing backfired like it does for so many. I've seen it firsthand, and the vultures start circling at the amateur level in all fight sports, boxing, kickboxing, even BJJ.
All these years of regulatory action in MMA have all been for the benefit of promoters and fighters have gotten literally nothing all this time. Remember when Congress proposed having the Ali Act apply to MMA? Lobbying dollars crushed it. Remember when NY had the proposal that fighters would be required to be unionized in order for them to legalize the sport? Lobbying dollars crushed it again. When the Spearhead thing was going on? Dana met with the President of the US to make sure the National Labor Relations Board wouldn't favor fighters being able to unionize, a meeting Leslie Smith unsuccessfully tried to use the freedom of information act to get info about.

I'm not a fan of Perry's schtick or the way he's carried himself, but it's easy to go broke playing sports, especially this one. You played ball so I'm sure you've known your own share of guys who had scum factories around them.

Hard to argue with any of that KB. Enlightening post.

And what I bolded is a great line.
