I also hope it's true. Stipe has the advantage of being more active, but I honestly think that, at his best, Cain is the best HW fighter on the planet.
It's the only fight to make at HW right now in my opinion. Ngannou some would say but I want to see him beat JDS, Overeem, or Werdum first.

He is. He will get his shot. It's just a matter of time. Right now, his signature wins are Arlovski and Curtis Blaydes. He needs to add a top 5 guy like JDS (I think this fight is in the works). Then let him get his shot.
There have been a lot of guys that looked the part until they faced top tier talent. I'm not saying he sucks just still young and needs to notch a win over a legitimate top HW contender. Let Cain have his shot (& loss) and Ngannou after he beats JDS.
He's fighting JDS @215 and is ranked 5th.. you're 100% right about him needing big win...his hands are lethal and his takedown D is very good..He might get a title shot with a win over JDS I believe it a fight with Reem if he beats jds
I would LOVE to see Ngannou and Reem. That would be a fantastic 2-3 minutes.

At this point, I think I'd book it but also have someone like Ngannou ready as an injury replacement.

I agree. For Stipe though it's a must have. Heck of a resume padder. Should he win he would have the most HW defenses in UFC history and wins over: Cain, JDS, Overeem, & Werdum. I know they are all older but that is still an impressive list, assuming he fights and beats Cain.

He fought a year ago at 200 and looked sharp.
Stipe has dispatched of both Reem and Werdum in the first round. There is really no reason to think that Reem's new cautious protect the chin would work against Stipe and Werdum hasn't been able to finish his last two.
That leaves Cain and Ngannou. Ngannou is the young up and comer. Let him dispatch a Reem as he is largely untested. Get one last big payday out of Cain.
I agree with this, other than the legend part. Cain is one of the best, but simply hasn't fought enough or consistant. I am hopeful for Ngannou, and I hope to see new prospects at HW as it will truly lift up the sport (and it is needed). Dana should be hunting for HW's on his show.

And yet I love watching those top 5-7 HWs more than anything.
You know why they aren't hunting heavyweights? Because the ones out there that are good will turn up eventually. There are very few men that large capable of doing what they do. And many of those that are capable are in the NFL.
