Super Bowl XLIX will take place Sunday, February 1 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. These teams feature some of the best athletes and personalities that the NFL has to offer. The NFL as a whole is full of freak athletes whose size and speed is unmatched in any other sport.

To be successful in mma, you have combine size, speed, power, and technique in an effective manner. As history has shown us, former professional football players can make for solid mixed martial artists. With guys like Brendan Schaub, Brock Lesnar, and Matt Mitrione competing in the UFC and Herschel Walker having success in Strikeforce, the transition from the gridiron to the cage has proven possible with outstanding results.

There are numerous guys in the NFL today that could compete in mixed martial arts, even at the highest level in the UFC. We decided to look at which players competing in the upcoming Super Bowl would be best suited for the sport of MMA if they decided to make a career change.
