I think a lot of boxing dogmatism influences MMA, but I don't even see those rules holding true in boxing.

Currently or recently active boxers:

Left handed orthodox:
Andre Ward
Miguel Cotto
Oscar De La Hoya

Right handed southpaw:
Vasyl Lomachenko
Manny Pacquiao

Switch stance:
Terence Crawford

Lomachenko and Crawford are the top 2 pound for pound right now. I don't see evidence that strong hand in back, in one fixed stance, is the best way to strike.

What about guys like Rockhold who are right handed but stand southpaw? Don't see that often but has its advantages.

Lomachenko is a right handed southpaw. Also Pacquiao, Anderson Silva.

Fencing keeps the sword hand in front.

The dogmatic boxing orthodox vs. southpaw dichotomy doesn't really exist, and we're seeing that more with modern fighters.
