A lot of you cats might not remember this. Some of you will, but in the 80's when Audi was selling 5000's by the thousands some people claimed that the car had just taken off on its own. In at least one case, a mother killed her 6 year old child. Audi claims they've inspected the vehicles and that the claims can't be substantiated. 60 Minutes has an "expert" who modifies the car so that it will perform the described symptom. Of course they do this without mentioning it on the broadcast, so they commit what can only be described as fraud. The government corroborates Audi's claims that there's nothing wrong with the vehicles and recovers although they did almost go bankrupt over the whole things.
60 Minutes never apologized to Audi.
