laws CAN be made to push that kind of progress backwards, the President CAN implement these laws, it's not nearly ridiculous.
What kind of laws are you talking here? All of this is hypothetical based on notion that Trump is some sort of crazy white supremacist. The Congress would never pass racist laws. And if they did, the civil unrest from the black community would be unheard of. America would burn to the ground. Will never, never happen.

Trump doesn't have to be a white supremacist to roll back affirmative action laws, nor gay marriage, nor immigration, block Muslim entry into America, etc etc etc

These are laws that affect communities other than people who look like Trump.

Again, this doesn't have to be categorized as supremacy.

If he's not a white supremacist, why on earth would he be compelled to revert those policies? This is the guy we assume will take an alternative approach to being the POTUS. Not a guy that's going to toe the company line for the sake of his political career. He's only doing that now to get elected.

We just have different perspectives, and that's perfectly understandable. I'm just more upset to see the overall narrative continue to dumb down the intellect of muh people. Can't we just all agree to make America great again?

Well, because literally ALL of those things have been cornerstones of the Republican party for the last few years. Trump said word for word that he would block Muslims from entering the USA. You tell me why? These aren't made-up issues, these are policy choices of the GOP. No offense, but you are following politics right? All of those issues are up for the vote in the Supreme court, that's why the nominee is so important this year.

If you feel the narrative is dumb then perhaps you should focus on who is creating the narrative and who is reacting to it.

The current narrative ain't mine. Mine was for a more socialist approach, but the majority doesn't like that idea.

I already did. To get the vote. His past party affiliations are much more telling than his stage performances.

You think his constituents are going to let him off the hook if he gets in?

I guess the difference is that I take him at his word, you think the millions of people he's duping will let his biggest campaign promises go (the wall, muslims, China trade deal etc).

I think he's exactly who he says he is.

What happened to Obama's promise of universal healthcare and no lobbyist influence? That's why he earned my vote. And I'll I got was an annual increase in my health insurance premiums.

Blocked by Republicans, it's not like he didn't try. We got the ACA instead. It's what he could do.

That's a bit different than claiming Trump has no intention of trying to implement what he says.

Fair enough. How about the lobbyists?

Obama administration packed with lobbyists he vowed not to hire

President Obama has hired more than 100 lobbyists in his administration, a new academic study reports. This doesn't match Obama's campaign promise to exclude lobbyists, or his pretenses of having kept that promise.

"President Obama's public rhetoric on contact with lobbyists does not always accord with his private actions," lobbying scholar Conor McGrath writes in the latest issue of the Journal of Public Affairs.

You don't seriously think I never fault Obama on anything do you? His lies don't make others lies less.

I feel Trumps lies are going to affect social progress and I think he's a danger to society because of that. People take their rights seriously.

We all gamble on how much politicians lie. My gamble and yours are diametrically opposed with Trump.

I appreciate the conversation, bud. More than you could imagine. My uncle was the only one who'd debate politics with me. He died in 2014. Often wonder what his take on all this would be...

This is actually how conversations with politics should take place. I state my point, you state your point and we somehow try to figure out where we are as Americans.

It CAN be done without calling each other tards or dropping petty '@' references to be a dick.

I'm all about TMMAC.

The most interesting thing about Trump running for president is how seriously his supporters are taking it. This might end up being a case of a joke going too far.

Wait. So you don't think Trump is the guy to finally broker peace between Israel and Palestine?
Trump is used to bullying people in the business world and getting his way. Try doing that with a country like China that is ruled by a wacko, has nukes and holds the U.S. economy hostage because they own $1,237,000,000,000 in U.S. treasury bonds. They will literally spit rice and noodles out of their mouths and laugh in Trump's face if he thinks he's going to intimidate them and make them do what he wants.

The mistake people continue to make is assuming that Donald Trump supporters are out of touch. On the contrary Trump has tapped into a significant populist message not completely unlike Bernie Sanders.

There are huge contingent of people angry with Washington and the media and the business climate and the job climate.

So some guy as the un-politician like Trump comes along and says fuck all those guys. He's tapped into a rage against the Machine.
It is naive to assume that Trump is successful simply because of a joke or people being out of touch. On the contrary people making such assumptions are out of touch with a significant portion of the population.

I have real issues with a lot of what Donald Trump says and what he represents. But short of being bombastic he's focused on a lot but ignored issues for a huge segment of the population.

Not getting back to some of these dank memes 4chan has decided to term this guy AIDS Skrillex

Has to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

I like when people assume that because we owe that money that the other person somehow has the power.

The smartest thing we ever did was make sure that if we fail China fails. There's no power in holding our debt. On the contrary there's only control by us.

How can this election not be full of memes? Even the critics are essentially caricatures of themselves.

Trump should turn this clip into a commercial and just add Vote for Trump at the end of it.

That's incredible.

Just a litany of social Warrior Buzz words.

What I don't understand is why these people always look so unwashed?
Look at her and the aids Skrillex guy. Don't they wash their hair? Why are the teeth always so gross?

The fact that we need China to to keep our economy solvent is troubling. If they stopped buying our debt the government would shut down.

I'm not really sure how that thinking works. We don't. By far greater than China we need domestic consumer spending to keep it solvent.

First off a huge portion of the debt that was purchased was done at negative interest rates. Right up front we made 2%. China literally said "here please take our money and give us some pieces of paper because your usd is so much more stable than anywhere else we can hide our money"

We are the Reserve currency.
As our economy weakens in our debt becomes easier and easier to pay off. There's a built-in buffering mechanism as such that our own domestic currency is the world's Reserve currency by default.

Japan owns almost as much of our debt is China. And the total external Holdings of our debt is only about one-third with domestic governments and individual's own 2/3.

Why are you not worried about Japan controlling us? You shouldn't be. But there is an undue focus on China and our debt.

Edit- my post has an error. Japan does not own real dollars close to China. I was looking at percentages for a few years ago. Which cover up the reality. China went on a buying spree and does indeed have a much larger portion currently. But I'm still focus on the same point that the great majority of our debt is held domestically and I'm not sure how our government would suddenly become insolvent because of China who holds a minority of our debt
