the palestinians would find a way to refuse that deal too. they dont want peace

The unusually detailed 80-page proposal to resolve decades of conflict fulfilled a wishlist of Israeli demands made over the years. As the president glided through its highlights, the White House audience of American and Israeli officials could barely contain their delight until they rose as one in a standing ovation when Trump announced that the Jewish state will retain control over an undivided Jerusalem. That put paid to the longstanding acceptance that at least part of the east of the city would be a Palestinian capital.

And so it went on, with Israel to get sovereignty over the Jordan Valley – the intended breadbasket of a future Palestinian state – and the principal Jewish settlements, widely considered illegal under international law. In compensation for loss of West Bank territory, the Palestinians would get a large chunk of desert linked to Gaza near the Egyptian border.

What would remain under the plan, spearheaded by the president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is a series of cantons linked by bridges and tunnels but entirely surrounded by Israeli sovereign territory – with the exception of a small strip of Gaza. Israel is also to retain “security control” over the entire area west of the West Bank border with Jordan which appeared to suggest it would have a military presence inside whatever is left of a future Palestine.

As Trump spoke, Netanyahu could barely contain his excitement at what looked very much like the rump of a Palestinian state at best, and more than once he grasped the president’s hand in a show of approval. Perhaps what will have pleased the Israeli leader most is Trump’s assertion that creation of a Palestinian state is “conditional” on a series of highly subjective tests including whether its leadership is doing enough to combat terrorism and end “incitement” against Israel, which Netanyahu appears to regard as any criticism of his policies.
Trump praised the Israeli leader for “having the courage to take this bold step forward” in embracing the plan. It would have been surprising if Netanyahu did anything else and his enthusiasm spilled out as he called it a “great plan for peace” that will change history, and described Trump as “the greatest friend that Israel has ever had in the White House”.

Few in the room were likely to dispute that, given the backslapping and cheers greeting the announcement as Trump effectively blamed the Palestinians for being occupied.

I’m not sure it’s the Palestinians fault J Dogg.

Good thing the experienced Kushner is working the file... it is Kushner’s skills and not his family connections that got him the job, right?
'Don't talk about history': how Jared Kushner crafted his Middle East 'peace' plan
“He said flat out, don’t talk to me about history,” said Aaron David Miller, a US peace negotiator for previous administrations who was consulted by Kushner. “He said, I told the Israelis and the Palestinians not to talk to me about history too.”

Jared Kushner, architect of Trump’s Middle East peace plan, still doesn’t get it

“If we don’t do this today, at the rate at which Israel is growing, I think that it will never be able to be done,” Kushner told Al Jazeera. “So we see this as the last chance for the Palestinians to have a state.”

He didn’t misspeak, which we know because he repeated this same talking point over an hour later. “This is something that we inherited, the situation where Israel continues to grow and grow

Trio of Dem senators considering vote to acquit Trump
Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona and Doug Jones of Alabama are undecided on whether to vote to remove the president from office and agonizing over where to land. It’s a decision that could have major ramifications for each senator’s legacy and political prospects — as well shape the broader political dynamic surrounding impeachment heading into the 2020 election.

How the Middle East Is Reacting to Donald Trump's Israeli-Palestinian Peace Plan

Palestinian National Authority
Following Trump's reveal on Tuesday, Abbas held a press conference at which he responded to the plan "with a thousand no's," especially to the U.S. proposal for an "undivided" Israeli capital in Jerusalem and a separate Palestinian capital somewhere on the eastern outskirts of the holy city.

"Jerusalem is not for sale. Our rights are not for sale. Your conspiracy deal will not pass," Abbas stated, warning that the Palestinian people will dump his plan "into the dustbin of history."
Jordan
"Jordan must condemn unilateral Israeli measures in violation of international law and provocative actions that push the region toward more tension and escalation," he said.

"Jordan will continue to work with Arab countries and the international community for realizing peace," Safadi added, offering support for "every real effort aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace accepted by the peoples."
Saudi Arabia
"The kingdom appreciates the efforts made by the Trump administration to develop a comprehensive peace plan between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, and encourages the initiation and direct negotiations of peace between the Palestinian and Israeli sides under the auspices of the United States of America and to address any differences on any aspects of the plan through negotiations," the ministry said.

Iran

"The Zionist regime is a usurper and occupation regime, and the only solution to the Palestinian crisis will be to hold a referendum among the main inhabitants of the land of Palestine, and such vicious plans are doomed to failure," Mousavi said.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called Trump's proposal "simply the dream project of a bankruptcy-ridden real estate developer."

"But it is a nightmare for the region and the world," Zarif added. "And, hopefully, a wake-up call for all the Muslims who have been barking up the wrong tree #LetsUniteforPalestine."

Turkey
In a statement issued Tuesday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry called the U.S. plan "stillborn."

"This is an annexation plan aiming to destroy the two-state solution and seize the Palestinian territories. The people and the land of Palestine cannot be bought off," the statement said. "Jerusalem is our red line. We will not allow any step seeking to legitimize Israel's occupation and atrocities. We will always stand by the brotherly Palestinian people and will continue to work for an independent Palestine on Palestinian land."

"We will not support any plan that does not have the support of Palestine," it added. "There will not be any peace in the Middle East without ending Israel's occupation policies."
[/QUOTE]

Egypt

A solution, the statement said, should grant Palestinians their "full legitimate rights through the establishment of their independent sovereign state over the occupied Palestinian territories, in accordance with international legitimacy."

The United Arab Emirates

Emirati envoy Yousef al-Otaiba said Abu Dhabi "appreciates continued US efforts to reach a Palestine-Israel peace agreement. This plan is a serious initiative that addresses many issues raised over the years."

"The only way to guarantee a lasting solution is to reach an agreement between all concerned parties," he added. "The UAE believes that Palestinians and Israelis can achieve lasting peace and genuine coexistence with the support of the international community. The plan announced today offers an important starting point for a return to negotiations within a US-led international framework."

They could be forced by the UN to accept the 1967 deal at risk of having their economy crippled.
To what end?
That's not what the Palestinians demand for peace.
They want to repatriate Palestinians including 50+ years of off spring into newly defined sovereign state Israel after you build two states.

Everyone, including the Israelis, use the rough borders of 1967 as a foundation guide for a two state solution. I don't care what they are. It's not my land. Give it up. That doesn't solve that security is the primary concern for Israel. Palestinians through various entities like Hamas don't agree to the 1967 limits, but more importantly no Palestinian leadership has ever agreed or proposed any land deal without the right of return. The latter is a straight non starter and until that is solved (along with Jerusalem, though that's easier since its just land lines eventually) there's zero real negotiating occurring. All lands deal are DOA until right of return is off the table in a two state solution. No new state is going to repatriate the guys intrinsically defining their separate statehood and being lead by entities that deny Israels right to exist.

If this was all just land and lines, this would all be over by now. Do the 1967 borders tomorrow and the Palestinians will still reject it. What's the solution there?

EDIT- Looked it up. 5+ million Palestinians and growing demand the right to return to newly formed Israel as a crux for peace. Israels entire population is 9 million. How do you solve that demand?

Navy Seal Pardoned by Trump Highlights Personal Info of ‘Cowards’ Who Testified against Him
Retired Navy SEAL Edward Gallagher on Monday attacked his former comrades in arms who testified against him as “cowards,” calling troops out by name in a video he posted to his social media accounts.

In a three-minute video Gallagher posted on his Facebook and Instagram accounts, both of which have tens of thousands of followers, the former chief special operator, 40, included names and photos of specific troops as well as the duty status and current units of those still who are still active.

Gallagher was charged in 2018 with war crimes, including that he stabbed and killed an injured and sedated teenage ISIS prisoner and afterwards posed with the body for a photo. His fellow Navy SEAL snipers also accused him of shooting several civilians during his 2017 deployment to Iraq.

He was acquitted in July after a highly-publicized court-martial of all charges except one, that of posing with the ISIS teenager’s corpse. His Navy rank was reduced, his pay cut, and he was sentenced to four months of confinement.

During the trial President Trump requested that Gallagher not be held in a Navy brig but be transferred to house arrest. Later, the president also reversed Gallagher’s demotion by the Navy.

Now, Gallagher says he is in a “fight to clear my name.”

“For my entire adult life, I’ve had the honor and privilege of fighting for this country and your freedom,” Gallagher said in the video. “Even though I went to trial and exposed all the lies that were said about me by certain cowards in my platoon and found not guilty, there are those to this day who refuse to accept that fact.”

Some in the Navy criticized Gallagher’s decision to post the video exposing information about specific troops, saying it puts them in danger.

“Attempting to call attention to (those SEALs’) status in the way it’s been done does not serve the mission or the interests of the Navy,” David Shaw, a former petty officer 1st class told Task and Purpose. “To attempt to out (their) status raises questions about the decision to do so.”

“Each and every one of the guys who came forward were performers of the highest caliber and people of the highest reputations within the platoon,” Shaw added.

Since being pardoned by President Trump, Gallagher has launched a Navy Seal-themed lifestyle brands, hawking health and fitness products and clothing on social media.
