Look into it
Yet steps still need to be taken to accommodate that shift towards electric.
Cutting subsidies and discouraging the use of them is creating an atmosphere where companies who produce them will move along.
IMO.. They are affordable and usable for over half of the vehicle use in USA and Canada.
We have charging stations all across BC, it cant be that hard.
The majority of the population lives within cities. Most families own more than one car. It is feasible to think within the next 20 years, all family units or single people who own two or more automobiles, one could be electric. That alone would account for a reduction of gas vehicles at a significant level.
The industry was moving that direction long before the Inconvenient Truth hit theaters. One could make an argument that the rebates and tax benefits have actually slowed the advancement of full electrics because the incentive is given for producing the stop gap rather than making it to the end goal.
The problem with that line of thinking is that the company who just closed a bunch of factories "cuz electric cars" also just ended production of their lone electric car.

Focus To Electric Vehicle Market Drives Changes At GM
And that option is running out.
There's an old expression about actions speaking louder than words.
Gottcha. So because GM killed the Volt or whatever it was called they are now out of the electric vehicle business. I will have to take your word for it.
Daddy Trump is a counter puncher, gonna knock the dumbocrats into oblivion!
They also killed the EV1 in the 90's, and the hybrid pickup, and the hybrid fullsize SUV in the 2000's. GM's general MO is to produce something first and then abandon it.
Is it possible that GM is moving to two places known for sub par quality control, and cheap labor to build extremely complicated products? Sure, it's possible. Is it more likely that they're going there to focus on building the SUV's and trucks that make up the vast majority of their business? Well, I know what I'd be betting on. Either way, I'm not that likely to take the word of a company who just fucked over the public the way they did.
No way as long as this is the case.
And for a second vehicle that gets driven less than a 100 miles per day (not even a full charge), is it that unreasonable to have to charge it for a couple hours over night?
Senate defies Trump, backs legislation calling for end to U.S. involvement in Saudi-led war in Yemen
So you have to have 2 vehicles To realistically own an electric one. Getting 2/3 of the way to Vegas and having to charge for 4 hours doesn’t seem to reasonable. If it has to be a second vehicle then it’s definitely not a great option for half the population.
I didnt say someone should own two vehicles just so they could own an electric one. And I already stated an electric vehicle is not currently viable for everyone. One step at a time.
I said the first step towards a shift towards electric is capturing the 2 or more vehicle families (or individuals) chunk of the market to make that second vehicle an electric one. It is far from the norm both family vehicles put on hundreds of miles per day. As well, only one family vehicle is needed to make long distant family trips or business trips. I think a good percent of those who own two vehicles could manage with the second family vehicle to be an electric one. I think that would be a good start in the inevitable shift away from gas vehicles.
To dig our heels in and try to avoid the shift towards electric is just going to make it that much harder when gas becomes cost prohibitive and/or unrealistic.
China is on route to be rid of gas combustion commuter vehicles within another decade, how can they manage but us westerners cant?
While you mofos are arguing about cars, this is the shit that should be developed en masse by the US. Fuck coal, fuck fossil fuels.
Just got a text from my Super Lib friend and she said "It's just a matter of time" for Trump to get impeached. She is over the moon excited about this Cohen thing.
