Texas is the best country in the world!
As long as we're dealing with facts:

1. Texas was only arguably an independent republic for just under 10 years.

2. The Republic of Texas got starched at the Alamo by Mexico. Fucking Mexico. They sent 200 Mexican soldiers in two pickup trucks and just cleaned shop.

3. Texas begged the U.S. for statehood from the beginning, and it wasn't until the U.S. finally intervened that Mexico stopped claiming sovereignty over the so-called independent republic.

The Republic of Texas was a 19th century version of CHOP.

Is there anything louder in the woods than a squirrel pouncing around in dry leaves?

When we are talking OH squirrels compared to those tiny little FL squirrels - not even the same species.
Wow, you are on the ball with your squirrel knowledge.

whats the mitigation for that borer? Not familiar with that pest
Did you prune that tree up like that, or is the canopy just that high?
Looks good, hope it stays healthy!
Canopy is just that high.

The Emerald Borer has decimated ash trees. It's a 100% kill rate unless mitigated. It's a tragedy to see all the dead trees out here. I've cut down at least 200 of them myself.

They now make a chemical that you mix with 5 gallons of water and spread it around the base of the tree twice a year. Costs about $70 - enough for 2 treatments a year. It's supposed to keep the bug away, or get them out if they are already in there.

Down here the problem is oak wilt. It’s sad to see Live Oak trees hundreds of years old get taken out suddenly. The treatment for oak wilt is super expensive though, people spend thousands trying to save their heritage oaks.

good luck, hope you got it under control!
