First, I have to say I have a hard time getting into anything JBL related as he's (apparently) such a complete d-bag of a person. And honestly, I couldn't stand his wall street gimmick - I only liked him in the APA.
(And Ron Simmons seems like a good dude, so them two being such good friends seems weird since JBL seems to be such a dick.)
That said, this JBL in the indies thing is interesting AF to me.
In case you didn't know, he keeps showing up in indy feds - there'll be a match going on, and he'll either attack someone on the outside, or someone in the ring. Black shirt, jeans, cowboy boots, cowboy hat, & cowboy style trenchcoat. Give a guy the clothesline from hell, nod or say something to the other guy, then leave through the crowd.
He did it (I think a couple times) in TNA, helping Nic Nemeth against Moose, he did it in AAA (I think in Triplemania), and apparently did it last weekend in MLW.
Doesn't he still (fairly) regularly appear in WWE? Like on PPV pre-shows & such? Or is he just on a legends deal, now?
Either way, it'll be interesting to see if all this goes anywhere & turns into a bigger cross-promotional storyline of some sort.
