Mirko Crocop one of the most feared strikers in MMA history, and Fedor long considered to be the best of the best on the planet Earth - both lured into the Wrestlers Web.

April 25th 2004
PrideFC: Total Elimination 2004

Kevin Randleman Vs. Mirko Crocop

Well known Elite Wrestler Kevin Randleman with the slight fake takedown shot - uncorks the heavy left that took out Mirko and gave the upset win to Kevin who would advance in the Tournament - interestingly enough Fedor fought Kevins teammate Mark Coleman on the same card. Randleman got some help from Chuck Liddell who recommended to Randleman that he go in for a couple takedown to set up the "Fake Shot" then BOOYAKA BOOYAKA SHAKA KHAN!!!! SHAKA SHAKA KHAN!!!!!!

Fast forward nearly 15 years later:

January 26th 2019
Bellator 214: Fedor Vs. Bader

Fedor facing off against a well respected and elite Wrestler in Ryan Bader fell victim to the same setup as his one time nemesis Mirko Cro Cop did back in Pride.

Fedor anticipating a shot from Bader slightly drops his hands to defend the takedown and gets bamboozeled by Bader and robbed of his Legacy.

What does this tell us, this tells us Wrestling may be the best "base" for MMA, great for conditioning - great for core strength - and great for putting Legends on their Asses .

*Bonus *

Conor McGregor a stand up specialist in his own regard also fell victim to the Wrestlers "fake shot" ...when he let his guard down just slightly in preparations for Khabib to shoot in for a takedown ...

Time and time again it has worked to perfection -- the wrestlers bread and buttah baby!

This is a combination that we trained in my gym full of wrestlers... feinting on the level change draws ppl guard down subconsciously to defend the takedown... And the angle in which the lead hook is off the normal line of sight that ppl are accustom to seeing... This is why in mma wrestling will always be king.. the fear that lives in ther bk of ppls mind of the takedown is a equalizer for a wrestlers striking deficiencies... Also the unorthodox style wrestlers present from their changing of stances during different distances in a fight throw ppl off
