This has never really bothered me too much. It brings awareness to the story/individuals. If it interests you you'll seek out the story for yourself.

I'm sure Hugh Glass never took liberties or embellished on his tale at all.

Yeah he has a solid story without any embellishments, but Hollywood gotta Hollywood if you want a screenplay greenlit.
Regardless, I thought it was a fantastic movie. Maybe a be biased as most of it was shot in my back yard (kananaskis)
