Usually only the elite of the elite get the majority of their money guaranteed. There is a shift where guys are seeing the value in guaranteed money, and the Hamlin issue might bring that to the forefront. Especially if he can no longer play and the Bills cut him.

Basically signed a contract with deferred payments. Roughly $1 million every July 1 until 2035.

Bonilla has the same deal with the Orioles. Only that one is $500k every July 1 and it ends in 2028.

Bonilla hasn't appeared in a MLB game since 2001.
