What effect does retiring have on UFC contracts I wonder, could someone retire for six months and get out of their worthless dog shit contract?
Ok so it's x number of fights regardless. Thanks man.No as far as I know they get frozen and the act is in the agreement, they either return to the UFC or stay retired. Essentially why wand or Nate or someone else doesn't just wait out some inactivity period.
If you're active they have to offer you one per year (if they don't think they gain anything from you fighting more or are in dispute with them, unless something unique is worked out but that is only in the case of fighters with leverage at the top) this is pretty standard@ErikMagraken can probably confirm what might be missing from my info.
I think like the NFL where there are guys now retiring young and forgoing massive amounts of money compared to MMA, basically because of the head injury facts and research, we are seeing the beginning of it in MMA which is easier because of lower pay, or (And I hope this isn't the case because Mein doesn't strike me as this) the new testing is a problem for certain guys in some way and we'll see more of this. What the fuck?
To me it's basically a late start in life. Work your way up to the pinnacle, earn jack shit, leave before you get chance to make major money. ...I think like the NFL where there are guys now retiring young and forgoing massive amounts of money compared to MMA, basically because of the head injury facts and research, we are seeing the beginning of it in MMA which is easier because of lower pay, or (And I hope this isn't the case because Mein doesn't strike me as this) the new testing is a problem for certain guys in some way and we'll see more of this.
I might be wrong but I thought it was 1 every 6 monthsNo as far as I know they get frozen and the act/state of legally being frozen in perpetuity is in the agreement, they either return to the UFC or stay retired. Essentially why wand or Nate or someone else doesn't just wait out some inactivity period, or if they have no use for you at all and don't have an inkling you are worth any substantial eyes to Bellator they will cut you. It's why Koscheck is not being treated as a "Well good bye" by Zuffa as much as Fitch or Okami, they know what Daily vs Koscheck rematch is worth to Bellator.

Talented, exciting fighter whom always put on a show. Still very young though, who knows one day he may decide to come back. It's happened before. No matter what happens, wish him well in whatever path he take.
