UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem has had a distinguished career. The PRIDE, DREAM, Strikeforce, K-1 and UFC veteran has almost seen it all (a UFC title shot notwithstanding), but it's uncertain exactly what the future holds for the former kickboxing and MMA champion.

Up first: a long-anticipated bout with former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos at UFC on FOX 17 in Orlando, Florida on Saturday. That bout will serve as the co-main event of the fight card.

After that? Well, it's anyone's guess.

As Ariel Helwani first reported on UFC Tonight on Wednesday, Saturday's bout is the last of Overeem's current contract with the UFC. After Saturday's contest, the Greg Jackson-trained heavyweight will attempt to test his value on the open market.

id love to see ubereem return over seas or possibly with glory.he has freakshow value.i dont see zuffa shelling out huge money to keep him either.he has been rather underwhelming in the ufc compared to when he was juiced to the nuts and fighting in strikeforce/dream/K1

If Reem wins that'll be 3 fighters whose contract is up whose last fight with the UFC (so far) was a win-

Benson Henderson, Aljamain Sterling and Allistair Overeem.

Someone's getting paid- hopefully all 3.

Don' think he has much chance but if he were to beat JDS then this becomes a fairly huge deal right?

Even if Reem moves on, it isn't like we may not see him back. I don't trust MMA fighters/boxers/combat athletes with their retirement announcements, much less see any finality with their promotional moves.
