Thought Bendo might get it, but my guess is Josh just wants to get this last fight of his contract over and done, and retire, so he can move on to the phase of his life.

I would rather have seen Bendo Vs Erick, but hey a fight is a fight.

I do think wants to get through his contract, we probably see him fight in another org.
I don't see the UFC giving him a big numbers contract after this one and i actually don't see him stopping just yet.

Definitely wants to finish the contract, but the reason for that is a bit of a mystery. He could have retired with fights still outstanding and it wouldn't have changed anything, unless he plans to compete with the UFC somehow, but even then I can't see it really hindering him, unless he wants to fight outside the UFC. I don't see it being about the money, either from a potential contract renewal or from another organization, since he is independently wealthy now. Perhaps it is as simple as he wants to finish out the contract, because he sees that as his word that he would have that many fights, which he kind of alluded to in an interview, if I understood him right.

As for his chances, it is difficult to say. Erick Silva is not a world beater and has been pretty much a can crusher. However, Kos looked lost against Ellenberger after a little early success. I think it comes down to if he can get that takedown and survive the first 6-7 minutes. If he survives that I like him to take a decision and If I was a betting man, I'd be tempted to put a modest sum on him, since he will no doubt be an underdog.

My first reaction was Dammit. I don't want to see Kos lose again. I think he took it because he is still in fight shape and he thinks there is something in Silva's game he can exploit. Kos requires a whole different game plan that KillaB. Maybe he thinks the short notice will be more of a problem for Silva than for him. He probably has a bad taste in his mouth the way the last fight ended and wants to prove something to himself and to the doubters. War Kos.

Think he signs a new deal and fights again, if he wins?

Nah, not at 37. If he gets the win he will ride off into the sunset and keep growing his other business interests.

Agree. Win or lose, I think this is his last fight. Go make that money running his businesses.

It's about the money, if he wins that'll be another 140k added to the 76k he made last week. I'm Sure there's a nice bonus added for taking this on short notice. He could very well take a super fight in Bellator since his manager is friends with Coker.

This is nothing new for Kos, he was always known for taking late notice fights back in the day. Kos will attempt to lay-and-pray/wall-and-stall his way to a boring decision. Erick Silva is an absolute beast in the first round. If Kos can survive that opening 5 minutes, this could be closer than people are expecting.

That being said, I didn't like the way Josh looked against Ellenberger. He seemed very distracted, looking for the clock every 30 seconds or so. I don't think his head is in it anymore.

^^^ Welcome back caposa! We just migrated software today, so there are still some cosmetic changes that will occur in the next 48-72 hours. Don't let what you see here now scare you away. The features in this software are badass though. Browse around and see what you think.

I would have much rather have seen Bendo fight.

Both Kos and Ellenberger looked bad in that last fight. Kos' takedowns have no quickness and power on them anymore.

He was pawing at his orbital after getting jabbed and it totally affected him. Idk if it was from pain or a mental thing after what GSP did to him.

His chin is a lot weaker now as well.

Plus this fights in Brazil. Puts way more stress and pressure on Koscheck.

I have Silva by KO round 1.

I Wild Each It, i think your correct about the reason Kos taking the fight. Also he has a good chance to go out with a win imo. Very surprised he is even cleared to fight after that sub loss. Josh was foaming out the mouth haha. Never was fan of his and his cocky attitude.
