There were real toys for rich kids back in Victorian times that were fully rigged model sailing ships with miniature cannons that were loaded with actual shot.
They would be set next to each other on water, and the fuses lit. The idea was to cause more damage to the enemy ship than you took, mainly taking out the masts and rigging.
They were pretty dangerous, if you didn't get clear and one turned the wrong way you could be peppered with shot.
I presume they had a man to rebuild them after battle.

When I was a kid they would fire the cannon a couple times a day for the tourists.
It was fun to go watch because they would stuff it with rags and those flaming rags would end up in the grocery store parking lot across the street, lol. Sometimes they would start a fire and the rangers would go running over there to stomp it out. We could hear that thing go off from our house a few miles away.
