As far as Tim Kennedy is concerned, this is just the tip of the iceberg. "There's a crazy problem," Kennedy told Ariel Helwani on Monday's edition of The MMA Hour. "The inevitable is gonna happen and where somebody is going to get seriously hurt and the person that caused that is gonna test positive and then the sport is ... "

Kennedy, a longtime anti-drug advocate in MMA, didn't have to finish his thought. We all get where he was going -- to a scary place. One Kennedy thinks is inevitable at this point.

He's been saying the PED problem has been an issue for awhile and everyone said he was just a bitch... I think he was more right than anyone gave him credit for. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if he popped.

he even called out dana and lorenzo on their "lip service" (not relating to ring girls). the guys got balls for sure. i'm glad he stood up and talked about the NAC, and why these tests come back late. i like kennedy and hope he is clean, but that dude has the look that people put with steroids, so he will always be accused.

I'll go on record and say he does not. I think he's just a thick military dude that gets ripped when he cuts 30 pounds. He looks nothing like that picture when he's walking around completely hydrated.

He looks like a lot of farm boys that I know around here in Kentucky, if they decided to cut 25-30 pounds of water weight. I'm not buying he's on PED's because some of these other dude's decided to cheat. I would rather the community not lump everyone into this disaster, because although it's a total clusterfuck, I am confident that there are guys in the sport that are clean.

I agree. We can't just assume everyone is using just because they are big. Genetics play a huge factor and like you said, he looks pretty normal after he hydrates and is in the cage.

i hate to see guys getting accused without any base, but i did the same to ubereem, so i can't judge. i just hope he isn't. you can get pretty big without roids, and water cutting is what fitness and muscle models do to look bigger, and more defined.

I will go on record and say tons of military dudes, especially in combat MOS's are on the sauce, can't see anything wrong with it in that respect. I'm just not comfortable with dudes who best each other up for a living being on shit, just not a good situation in that regard.

Well he is not wrong. If they continue with out of competition testing then they will continue to catch a lot of guys for the next 5 years or so, until the guys who are coming up see what is going on and never get on it, and the guys who came up during lax testing - so ruined their ability to make test - retire. After that it will slow down, but expect a bumpy ride for a while.

This really couldn't have come at a worst time for the UFC what with the injury problem as well. However it is possible that the injury problem is a symptom of guys using roids and overtraining or people who used to use, but have come off and are no longer receiving the benefits. My guess is that the issue is routed somewhere between those two and the UFC insurance.

I agree that fighters shouldn't be on it, because it provides an unfair advantage in training and in the octagon. I (me personally) just don't want to start lumping everyone into the PED pile, because some guys have gotten busted recently. Am I now more skeptical of everyone because this appears to be rampant in the sport? Yes. But I also don't think it's fair to say "so and so must be on it, because he looks like that" or "so and so must be on it, because so and so was busted for it". It's a slippery slope.
