After throwing MM under the bus, ruling the UFC like a fucking dictator and failing to adapt to fighters concerns, is it time to Dana to retire?

Would you feel the UFC make the next step to wider acceptance without Dana or is the UFC better with him around?

Haven't seen anything from the new owners that makes me believe it would be better if he left.

i think we all agree he's an asshole and this latest incident is not good.
question is, who is going to replace him? i don't want to see things go further downhill than they already are.
i believe the real problem is the wme img takeover treating this whole thing like a corporation with no face and turning it into a travelling circus.
i believe dana may be the one who is trying to reason with these stupid momo's so it doesn't completely turn into ninja warrior......

I think fighters will never organize as long as Dana is in charge. With him gone and a new face they have little to no relationship with, they'll feel more emboldened to band together to protect their interests.

haha thats true, we don't see all sides to the story, but we do see the fighters side and it ain't a good look. I guess we can assume they saw Dana as an investment and someone worth keeping around, which tells me as someone who's not a huge fan of dana at this point, that this WME IMG takeover wasn't such a progressive move at all.

I think thats a good point, but maybe Dana is holding them back?
I don't think that's the case. Seems like he's the only public figure they have in the company that can even talk mma. There are guys like Reed Harris that are awesome but most UFC fans have no idea who he is. The minute they show me a reasonably well mma educated front man to replace him. I'll be happy to move on from his old act.

Which tells me Dana is the pitbull that WME IMG want to stop fighters from 'getting out of line'...but is that the sport we want for the future? there's definately pros & cons to both, a sway of absolute power to fighters would obviously have other drawbacks

There's also the argument that the sport doesn't need this pitbull figurehead like dana, that the UFC do the promotions and the talking is left to the fighters.

Sean Shelby is no saint on his own, so he can keep the nasty stuff going behind the scenes.

My preference for DW, since he is the biggest star after all, would be a semi-retirement where he still does tuf and his other show, and maybe some rogan-like commentary filmed for the big fights, but other than that, bye.

Doesn't have to be a pitbull but I do believe a dedicated promoter is important.

like a phased out retirement, i like that idea, but the media bulldogs will always pull Dana in for an opinion.

I think there's also the argument of how can we legitimise the sport for wider media consumption when we have someone who undermines his own employees. I know we've seen this in other sports, but as a growing one, one that even in the UK isn't even covered on major sports news channels (BBC sport don't even list MMA)...I guess i want to see the sport continue to grow, and that is done with fighters, having serious stars of the Sport. Dana can rant all he likes, but it's the fighters that transcend onto other media avenues, Dana's not the one sat on Ellen's couch, it's Ronda. If more promotion was pushed on fighters like MM, and not on stupid TV programming around Dana and his buddies, maybe fighters like MM would make that jump from UFC champion to TV Chat shows, which in turn, turns more eyes onto the sport.

We haven't seen any good replacement's for the ones that did "retire", so no. That includes sponsors, the Fertitas, Goldie, etc, etc.

This is kind of my take. Dana does a lot of stuff that I don't agree with, but I'm not sure he'd be replaced by someone who would treat the fighters better. The fighters need to organize and defend each other. That's all that will fix this.
