T.J Dillashaw Breaks Rib, Out UFC 186 Rematch Against Renan Barao
Written by Tom Ngo
March 24th, 2015

For the second straight time, the rematch between bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw (pictured) and Renan Barao will have to wait for another day.

On Tuesday, the UFC reported Dillashaw has been forced to pull out of the April 25 scrap with a fractured rib.

No word on how long Dillashaw will be forced to ride the pine. It is also unknown if Barao will remain on the card against a different opponent.

Despite being a whopping 8-1 odds-on favorite to blast Dillashaw in their initial encounter at UFC 173, Dillashaw came out of nowhere to dominate the Brazilian. Barao was granted an immediate rematch to reclaim his throne at UFC 177, but he was forced to withdraw just 24 hours before showtime after his body failed trying to make weight.

The good news is UFC 186 will still feature a title tilt. The co-main event between flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson and Kyoji Horiguchi now gets bumped to the top slot.

Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada hosts the festivities.

Here is the card’s revised lineup:

Valerie Letourneau vs. Jessica Rakoczy

Thomas Almeida vs. Yves Jabouin

Olivier Aubin-Mercier vs. David Michaud

Patrick Cote vs. Joe Riggs

John Makdessi vs. Abel Trujillo

Michael Bisping vs. C.B. Dollaway

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs. Fabio Maldonado

Kyoji Horiguchi vs. Demetrious Johnson (UFC flyweight champion)

Another Canadian PPV with a MIGHTY MOUSE headlining fight.

Rampage may yet get blocked from fighting by injunction.

AT LEAST PUT A HW FIGHT ON THIS CARD.

Damn was looking forward to this fight.

So in the past we didn't see much fighters pulling out of fights.
I think it is because of the medical insurance paid for by the ufc.
I truly think fighters in the past fought trough a lot of bad injuries because they needed to get paid to fix what ever injurie they had, now it is paid for.

This is actually a good thing, this way fighters can get the most out of there careers, just look how The Hammer is doing, don't think he had much security in the medical department when he started out, and his body is just giving up on him.

They emptied out or Booed for MM vs Ali almost the entire time in Vancouver and it did 115,000 buys.

Horiguchi seems like a great contender if he had more contender fights at 125 but has been rushed to the title like Cariaso. I don't see Rampage after the last 3 years, if he even makes this card carrying the buyrate alone. Does this make 100k?

The 125 belt is not headline worthy until Cejudo is ready.

I'D rather the 115 women belt headline at this point.

If the UFC with its "Marketing and event operation costs" and with the payouts (as sad as they are) can turn a profit on that card:

100k buys-ish lets say average 50 bucks = (5 million - PPV company cut)
+
Gate of one million give or take. Octagon ad revenue.
+
Piece of the prelim ad revenue or whatever, which for this can't be that good.

Then they are straight up robbing the fighters blind worse than anyone thinks. The argument is always "Well their operation costs are higher than anything else centralized in revenue and contract payouts". Well if that is true, this event at a major international arena loses money then or they have no loss leader events and hide profits beyond anyone's estimation.

I predict some "fuck your dollar" and goof insults getting thrown around.

And Fuck Lombard for failing and screwing up the fight with Rory that was on this originally and right now would save this card.

All that calling out for nothing, a big wad of nothing. Got him his titleshot but I was looking forward to seeing him beat Lombard to put any doubt to rest or Lombard finally living up to his talk and hype as a some monster.

That's a Fox card at best. Can't blame the UFC for this. It was a good card at one time.

I wasn't gonna buy it anyway...even though I want to see Maldonado (hopefully) beat the tar out of Rampage.

I almost feel bad for the UFC when their shittier cards turn even worse because of injuries. Almost. I just picture a desperate Dana White on the phone with one person kissing ass and then on the phone with someone else berating them...flip-flopping back and forth, scrambling to pick up the pieces!

They need to find a replacement fighter or sign a new fight. The only people that get screwed are the fans that bought tickets. I bet not one of them would complain if Barao was kept on the card fighting Francisco Rivera or mizugaki. Write a extra couple checks and make it happen there is no excuse. After rashad got pulled vs Cormier at 170 I was still happy to get to see Dan fight Cummins. At least I got to see Cormier fight.

Welcome to the Sham! They get us hyped for these fights that don't happen, especially this one that was supposed to happen back in August!

It's not a bad card. Of course, I don't pay for the PPV, so I just watch anything :p.

Plus, Mighty Mouse is awesome to watch.
