My doors are always unlocked unless I'm leaving the house for more than a day. I've been living in the same neighbourhood for 25+ years and never had an issue, and actually I've never heard of anyone having an issue. It's a very quiet neighbourhood.

Plus I have a 140lb rottweiler here who hates strangers constantly guarding the house. Not to mention the guns so mine is not an ideal house to rob.

I lock my house when I am not at home or when I am sleeping. When I am home it is not locked. I have a keypad for people to get in and we give friends the "friend code" if they want in.

I lock my vehicles all the time. It's just a habit.

At night or if we go away. Vehicles stay unlocked in garage to save the hassle of a potential broken window. Sliding door on upper floor is usually open a few cms for that fresh mountain air.
