Tom Aspinall might be more frustrated than UFC fans when it comes to the Jon Jones situation.

The interim UFC heavyweight champion has been asking for his chance to unify the heavyweight title with Jones, and after the two-division champion destroyed Stipe Miocic in November at UFC 309, the fight still seems nowhere closer to being made seven months later.

Speaking on the High Performance Podcast, Aspinall was asked what he could do to make the fight happen.

“Me, personally, I can’t do anything,” Aspinall said. “I just think it’s down to money on his side. I will fight whenever — whenever, wherever he wants — but it’s down to money I think. ...

“I just think that at this stage in his career, he’s had an amazing career, I just think that... he’s like 37, 38 years old, but not only that, he’s got a million miles on the clock. So he’s got a lot of damage on the body, he’s [taken] a lot of shots to the head. And that’s not me saying anything negative. That’s the reality of it, and I’m sure Jon Jones is aware of that.”

Following Jones’ win over Miocic, he left the next move of his career up in there, where he could retire, or possibly fight Aspinall for the right price.

jones wants that last big pay day before he retires .i am all for jon juicing dana for every red cent he can get from him buy . aspinall is getting fucked though . he is right in his prime and sitting on his ass waiting for something that might not happen. he is kind of in a michael chandler situation . aspinall has probably lost a million dollars already . he probably could have fought twice over the last 9 months . this is all danas fault though . i dont blame jon for trying to get paid. i blame dana for being a lowballing cocksucker with the fighters. if he really wanted to make jon fight he would cut the cheque . instead it is company policy to grind everyone as hard as possible . what does dana even care anymore either ...its not like it is his personal money .its not like the company is in the hole. its now super big time with multibillionaire owners who pay actors,athletes and musicians mega million dollar contracts all the time . dana is just a cheap cunt for the sake of being able to flex on his athletes and lord money over their heads the ufc at this point survives despite dana not because of him

I agree with everything you said.

Except, that cutting the check would make the fight happen. Jon doesn't need the money, and the money isn't the issue. The issue is he knows there is a good chance he loses the fight and most likely by KO. Jon's ego can't deal with that.

Dana is being a fag by not stripping him already, seriously feels like there is some old blackmail material(Diddy Partytime Shit) between Egg and Jon from the days before they knew he was a train wreck in progress.

It's wild that Jones is even considered a champ in any weight class. Has fought 3x in over 5yrs, squeak by Reyes, beat a Frenchy with no ground game, and an ancient Stipe, who he still poked in the eye a bunch. Yet, here he is holding up the HW division.
