10. Dazed and Confused (1993) Richard Linklater

A coming of age film about teenagers on their last day of school in the 70's. More so than any other film, I think Dazed and Confused captures the pain and humor of growing up.

9. Before Sunrise (1995) Richard Linklater

The story of 2 strangers meeting in a foreign city and quickly falling in love. This is the most romantic movie ever made in my opinion.

8. Boogie Nights (1997) Paul Thomas Anderson

A look into the porn business in the 70's and more so about life in the fast lane.

7. Good Will Hunting (1997) Gus Van Sant

"Some people can never believe in themselves, until someone believes in them."

The story of a troubled genius trying to find his place in the world.

6. Reservoir Dogs (1992) Quentin Tarantino

A heist movie where you dont need to see the heist. The beginning of Tarantino's incredibly unique character driven movies.

5. Goodfellas (1990) Martin Scorcese

Where The Godfather shows you the life of the higher levels in the mob world, Goodfellas gives you a look into the life of of the working class wiseguys. If you had romanticized notions about the mafia, this movie will put an end to that.

4. Fargo (1996) Coen brothers

This is storytelling at its finest. Dark, gritty, and brilliant. One of the most re-watchable movies for me.

3. True Romance (1993) Tony Scott

Quite possibly the most underrated and under-appreciated movie of all time. A wild ride from start to finish. Amazing cast and dialogue.

2. Pulp Fiction (1994) Quentin Tarantino

Groundbreaking monologue, fantastic blend of violence and humor, as well as a stylized vision builds this film to be one of the best ever made.

1. The Big Lebowski (1998) Coen brothers

This film is a cult phenomenon that gets better every time I watch it. Endless amounts of quotable scenes. Nothing I write will do it justice. The Dude abides...

So many good movies to choose from the 90's. I don't know my top 10 off the top of my head. I'll have to give it some thought. I'm sure my list will have the Matrix, and Boyz n the hood, but not sure about the remaining spots.

My top ten in no particular order

Unforgiven
Groundhog Day
Goodfellas
My Cousin Vinny
Heat
Braveheart
Dumb and Dumber
Home Alone
The Shawshank Redemption
Point Break

While my list may not be for everyone, it's based purely on what movies I can watch over and over and still be captivated. I'm not swayed by what critics rate them or even what other watchers feel is good or not.

Forrest Gump is a better movie than Boogie Nights.

Jenny is a bia, but roller girl can go to hell. Otherwise, I'm gonna be honest that's a hell of a list of movies I grew up on.

My favorites- Based off how many times I've watched them:

Matrix
Boyz in the Hood
New Jack City
Sling Blade
Point Break
Bad Boys
Life
Above the Rim
Dumb and Dumber
Tombstone

Honorable Mention: Tin Cup, Wyatt Earp, Don't be a Menace to Society While Drinking Your Juice in The Hood, Liar Liar, Poetic Justice, Nutty Professor.

I'm sure there are several great ones that I've forgotten about. These are the ones that I remember watching the most. In the interest of full disclosure, I almost added Titanic to the list (no homo). I wouldn't automatically think of it as one of my favorites, but it seems like I have seen it more times than a man should.

If I was a film teacher and for your final exam you had to shoot a full motion picture and one of my students submitted Forrest Gump, they would not pass my class.

GARBAGE.
