Those fights were crazy. Jay r Palmer was a beast but fell off quickly. I had the pleasure of being able to attend 5 or 6 events when I lived in Hawaii. It was basically a Pride show. Knees, stomps, ring, the whole 9 yards.

Yeah those head kicks helped with that falloff. Loved those days those events were crazy. I would order bootleg vhs tapes online to follow superbrawl, IVC , WVC and Mecca.
I hated how they kept changing the name. When it became futurebrawl it confused the shit out of me at the time.
Futurebrawl was what it was called before it was superbrawl. That was a bit before my time in Hawaii. I got there in 2001.
Futurebrawl had their shows at this place called gussy lamours which was basically a strip club/bar. I've been there but it was after that. It's been torn down since. It was right next to the airport.
It turned into superbrawl after that. Way bigger than it was before. Most of the events were at blaisdell arena which seats about 8k. Most of the shows I went to were sold out.
I even went to 1 at a water park where mayhem fought Ronald jhun and almost got my ass kicked by 3 Hawaiians after mayhem started a mini riot in the ring.
It turned into icon sport a little while after that.
Ok I thought I was trippin. So I had to look it up I started watching superbrawl 1-4 on vhs in 1997 that I got at a local store. Then around 2000 when I started ordering online they had SuperBrawl- Futurebrawl 2000. That event was listed under futurebrawl with the other Futurebrawl events on the site. I thought the other events were new as it was far harder to track that at the time. I didn't know till now they were shows run monthly from January 96 - may 96. The first Superbrawl was June of 96.
Yeah I think you're right because Frank shamrock and Belfort both fought in superbrawl and that was in 96-97. Superbrawl/futurebrawl must have run at the same time. I think futurebrawl must have been a feeder show to superbrawl because it was in a venue that sat like 200 people max. I know it was over by the time I got there (2001) pretty sure tj Thompson owned both promotions.
I looked it up Futurebrawl held like 6 events in the first 5 months of 96. Then SuperBrawl started in June 1996. So you were right they just happened very quickly before SuperBrawl.
Yeah I wasn't positive because that all happened before I got there.
I still can't believe that Zuffa hasn't put on a show on Oahu yet. The Hawaiians are very passionate about mma.
Mma was always real popular out there way before it was on the mainland. I think an outdoor show at aloha stadium would do great numbers. It's the perfect environment for MMA.

Before that, I lived in palolo valley. Not fun at first for a haole. Luckily my bitch/baby momma was Hawaiian so I got a pass after awhile.
