Personal Traffic Court

My husband is in traffic court right now to fight a ticket. Neither of us have had one in several years. He has a friend with him who was in the car with him at the time.

Here is some of what he just texted me a few minutes ago:

'They just told me the trial may not start until 8:30'

'When I asked about it the guy just walked away from me. He looked at B and said, "I don't see how a witness is going to help you". I said, "He was there."'

'Just hearing how they're dealing with other people, it's clearly designed to be coercive'

'The reps here are calling people stupid and idiotic and all sort of fun stuff'

Thoughts, comments, advice? TIA

Lol. He is accused of ignoring a white line and making a left turn without signaling.

Really the issue was that he was in a car with three other guys of various colors, all four of them in their thirties but look younger. The cop probably had a quota and tried to make like my husband had been drinking, but then when my husband didn't fall for it the guy did not even bother with a breathalizer or anything like that.

The whole thing sounded stupid. I don't usually like the way my husband drives, but he always signals.

I really was just hoping for some general tips, not a detailed defense.

And honestly, there's not a ton you can do in a situation like this. It's basically his word vs the officer's judgement. The judge may cut some slack and reduce it if there is an alternative that he can charge your husband with. For example, if he was charged with reckless driving he could have it dropped to improper.

NY. He just called me. I guess they didn't want to go to trial. He just kept saying no to the prosecutor's deals until they offered $150 and no points. They originally wanted over $450 and 4 points, so my husband decided to take it and get out without having to go before the judge.

Lol. I don't believe there was any dashcam. It was a plain car.
