Knowing this state I won't be surprised if he wins

PORTLAND, Maine (WMTW) - In just a few weeks, women from across the state will be competing for the title of Miss Maine USA.

Miss Monson USA, Isabelle St. Cyr, is the first transgender woman to participate in the pageant.

“Starting pageants at 24 feels a bit like starting cheerleading when I was 14. Everyone around me had been doing this since they were kids. There is so much to learn and so much to discover. But never for a moment has it made me feel like I can’t do this,” St. Cyr wrote in a March 25 Facebook post. “When I started cheerleading I had all the odds stacked against me. So much pushback, so many people telling me it wasn’t a space for me. But I fought for what I loved and I ended up being a very successful cheerleader, winning state and national titles and inspiring people to join even if they hadn’t been doing it their whole life. I sense a similar trajectory in my ongoing journey with pageants. I believe I have everything it takes to be Miss Maine USA and I know that no amount of experience can match a true passion and drive to accomplish something.”

In a phone call with our media partners WMTW on Tuesday morning, St. Cyr said she entered the pageant before President Donald Trump’s inauguration and before the topic of transgender athletes became an issue in Maine.

St. Cyr owns Blossom Farmstand in Monson and said she is looking forward to using her platform to share her story.

The Miss Maine USA and Miss Maine Teen USA pageants will be held the weekend of May 10-11 in Portland

Stupid ass entitled little tw@.

I believe Trump could stop this even though IT entered before he entered office. Who/what is in charge of shutting these ITs out of women contests?

Maines elected government refuses to comply/acknowledge there being only two genders and keep this flame burning

It’s pathetic the “real” women in Maine don’t stand up.
Like the real female that took a stand and refused to compete with a dude pretending to be a chick in a fencing comp.
If every real female drops out of any comp that allows fake women to compete against real women they would eventually have no choice but create separate categories just for fake women

You're not wrong, but the problem is that any woman that does make a stand has to be willing to forego all their own achievements or ability to accomplish anything. Yesh, they make a political stand and typically garner public support. But it fucks their chance to compete.

Like the fencer you mentionied - she wasn't just disqualified from the contest. USA Fencing actually put her on probation for a year. She ended up saying "fuck it" and just stopped competing.

I've used this example a bunch of times, but years ago when those two black tranny sprinters made headlines, going from not able to rank in the top several hundred in the country as men to winning national championships as girls the very next year, I saw a piece about high school sprinters. A couple girls (who wouldn't allow their identities to be revealed) were quoted as saying that they hated that shit...pretty much all the female competitors do.

But they know that if they say anything about it, they'll be blackballed - they're basically shitcanning any chance they have of getting a track scholarship...possibly even the chance of getting accepted in the college in the first place...much less the ability to get sponsorships or the like for post-collegiate competition.

And this was pre-NIL. I have to think it's even worse now with actual money on the line.

Imagine telling a 17-year old girl she has to be the one to fuck her goals & aspirations, as well as the years of athletic work she's put in, all because of bunch of retarded leftist faggots - most of which have never actually competed athletically - all think it should be Ok for her to compete against dudes.

I know it's popular to say "lol @ women - they made this bed, so fuck 'em". I don't necessarily disagree in principle, but the ones advocating for this bullshit and the ones being hurt by it are typically two very different people.

Agree to some extent
Times are changing
any female with any desire to fairly/safely compete or want to use a women’s bathroom or a women’s locker room with real females are forced to make a stand or accept it and suffer the consequences

Im behind trumps move to the science of just two genders
Create a trans category for any comp and move on
I’m happy my kids are adults

Over the years, I've had probably 5-6 conversations with people who had no problems with trannies competeing athletically against women - especially at the scholastic level.

And in EVERY instance, they:

--didn't play, never played, nor had any interest in sports
--didn't have kids
--or if they did have kids, their kids didn't play, never played, nor had any interest in sports

I've never met a female athlete (current or former), nor a parent of a female athlete, that thought this shit was Ok.
