Which is what I figured. And what I also figured would be pretty standard across all platforms. A quick disconnect to manual control in the event of an emergency. And what I assume would be on that new Boeing. Surely a pilot of any type would be primed for this action during initial climb out?

Would he not have tried to take control immediately? Or have Boeing made it too complicated that it's no longer a quick button flick?
My guess is that he was a robot and allowed the autopilot to fly him into the ground. It wouldn’t be the first time this has happened.

It sure seems like it doesn't it. If he forgot to flip the switch is there a point where he could pull up on the stick and trigger some sort of manual reversion in case the switch had failed?

I’m not sure. My plane’s autopilot is strong as fuck.

Most approved ones are during normal conditions. We used to do 75+ touch and gos a day proving our autopilot and then every now and then we would learn something new that proved catastrophic

The only time my autopilot has disengaged on its own has been due to a few instances of severe wake turbulance.

The plane’s awesome. The problem is with the pilots and training involved in the crashes. The Max is like the 4th generation of glass cockpit and Flight Management Systems. The airlines involved are moving from old steam gauge instruments airplanes into super modern instruments. They just aren’t prepared. I’m bullish on Boeing stock.
Have you flown the Boeing MAX planes?
I appreciate your insight in this thread. Good stuff.

Year is still young. Probably canceled orders.
Cancelled orders within the same year are not negative orders. They equate to zero.

For it to be a negative, it would need to represent sales that were taken and paid for in 2018 and cancelled for 2019.

That is what I meant though. I just didn't word it as well as you did.

It's back in the air folks.

American Airlines completed a successful flight using the Boeing 737 Max from Miami to New York. It will continue with 2 flights a day between these two cities, and will add more 737 Max planes to their schedule next week.

Southwest has no plans to use the plane yet.

BA is up .07% to $216.25
AAL is down 1.25% to $15.86
LUV is up .07% to $46.15

Until the planes start to fall out of the sky again.
