Early this week, UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley stated that he was willing to return as early as UFC 230 to defend his title against Colby Covington. However, that is dependent on whether or not he will be receiving clearance from his doctors.

As he told ESPN in a recent interview, Woodley dislocated his thumb during his most recent title defense against Darren Till early this month, where he tore three ligaments.

”They are doing a shoestring surgery to provide more stability for my hand and minimize the potential arthritis,” Woodley said, speaking about the extent of his injury.

Man I feel bad for T Wood. His momentum and tide of getting the fans behind him
was just starting to hit.

Call me a UFC hating conspiracy theorist but I swear I would not be surprised
if Egg stripped him and had Till and Colby fight for the belt. According to their own
admission they all wanted Till to be the champ anyway and "Couldn't wait for Woodley to loose"

What a bummer. I was really looking forward to seeing Woodley face Colby.

Hopefully he has a quick surgery and recovery.

He only fights twice a year, so this doesn't jeopardize his "most active fighter on the roster" status.

I guess XRays will prove the injury. I wonder if Woodley would have been ready to fight again soon or does he want Colby to fight somebody else first?

Colby/Tyron really is the next fight I want to see at WW.
