The only problem with this is, Spong likes to get paid, and he is used to getting paid in the upper tier.
I don't see him fighting for peanuts (8K/8K), so they will probably need to get out the checkbook with the big numbers.

I think if they did fight I got rothwell. The dude is a real grizzled veteran of the sport and has beaten strikers just as good as spong. I think rothwells experience , grappling, and toughness would win him the fight.

I would pick Rothwell in straight up MMA because unless Spong catches him right away I highly doubt Ben is gonna take his chances. Clinch take down etc.

Then again Spong is a freak and super athletic. I'm a huge fan of his, but I am also realistic in the boxer/kickboxer vs MMA fighter under MMA rules thing. Yeah he's had a couple MMA fights but no one to write home about, and Rothwell has had like 40+ fights
