SEATTLE — A Seattle man is facing charges after he allegedly carjacked a woman near the Waterfront and caused a multi-vehicle wreck in the Central District.
A woman told police she found a man sitting in her truck near Post Avenue and Spring Street. Police said the man shoved the woman, took her keys and sped away in her vehicle.
Officers found the carjacking suspect at 5th Avenue and South Jackson Street, but he sped past them by running several red lights. Shortly after police said the suspect struck a vehicle near 23rd Avenue South and South Charles Street, causing a wreck that damaged three more vehicles.
Authorities said the 47-year-old suspect fled from the wrecked truck and ran into the yard of his own home. Police arrested him once he ran into his house.
The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for robbery and vehicular assault, police said. Investigators are looking into whether the carjacking suspect was driving while intoxicated.
